Spyder78 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) http://www.ign.com/a...n-movie-planned Fans will be getting the Batman/Superman film they have been clamoring for, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter. Man of Steel director Zach Snyder is reported to take the helm. While it seems that Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the film, no actor for Batman has yet been rumored. Man of Steel scribe David Goyer is set to pen the script. Also rumored: a Flash film for 2016 and a JLA movie for 2017. The Warner Bros. panel is happening at San Diego Comic-Con, and full details are expected to be released then. UPDATE: Man of Steel director Zack Snyder took the stage at SDCC today to have his MOS actor Harry Lennix read the passage from The Dark Knight Returns as a way to formally announce that the next Superman movie will include Batman! The studio then showed the Superman logo with a new Batman logo behind it. It's really happening, people! UPDATE 2: Here's the official statement from Warner Bros: On the heels of the worldwide success of Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time —Batman and Superman —for the first time on the big screen. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution,Warner Bros. Pictures. The current hit, Man of Steel, has taken in more than $630 million at the worldwide box office to date, and climbing. Along with its star, Henry Cavill, the upcoming film brings back Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The new Batman has yet to be cast. Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015. Silverman stated, “Zack Snyder is an incredibly talented filmmaker, but beyond that, he’s a fan first and he utterly gets this genre. We could not think of anyone better suited to the task of bringing these iconic Super Heroes to the screen in his own way.” Kroll added, “We are thrilled to be back in business with Zack and his team on this next movie. The success of ‘Man of Steel’ is a wonderful testament to the love and support that both fans and new audiences, worldwide, have for these characters. We are very excited to see what Zack has in store for all of us.” Diane Nelson, President, DC Entertainment, noted,“Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC fans everywhere. All of us at DC Entertainment could not be more excited for Zack’s continuing vision for the DC Universe.” Zack Snyder, who made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con today, breaking the news to audiences there, later said, “I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.”The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.Thomas offered, “Whilst our Dark Knight trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.” The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment. Heart Breaker Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Really interested to see who plays Batman considering Christian Bale said he was finished with the character. Nonetheless, I'm excited to see this! Quote
Aero Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 guess they've finally realised Superman is a weak character. roll on batman to make the movie better. Quote
delete Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I'm not sure what to think of this It's clearly just gonna be tons of action and skyscrapers being blown to bits, I loved the first half of Man Of Steel because it introduced the characters and the story REALLY well. Then I didn't really like the rest of it, one thing I'm annoyed about is that they're making a new Batman film so soon after the recent trilogy. In my eyes it was perfect, Christopher Nolan is a great director and Christian Bale is an amazing actor. There won't ever be another Batman film which is half as good. Overall I'm interested in this and I'm looking forward to this. Quote
last ride 123 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Theyre going to be facing off against each other. So bad ass. Sooo stoked. Quote

delete Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I think that they'll face off for the first half but then team up to defeat a villian towards the end. Like in Avengers Assemble when Captain America, Iron Man and Thor have a mini battle but then work together at the end. Quote

last ride 123 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Hmmm...i guess the obvious villains would be Doomsday/ Darksied. I doubt Lex Luther will be in as a villain maybe a small role to be set up as the next Man of Steel villain. Quote

Just like WWE there must always be a heel and a face not just both faces or both heels in a rivalry they'll probably face off in the first half of the movie because they both have different perspectives and they differ in the way they deliver justice Quote

Aero Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 i think they'll face off with each other for virtually the whole movie and not really team up until justice league Quote
last ride 123 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Its officially been named Batman Vs. Superman. Quote

Its brilliant really. Having the two most recognizable super heroes on the planet in the same movie for the first time ever wasnt good enough..they took it one step further and are having them face off against one another for their first encounter..so genious. At least theyre not changing anybodys origin story...ie Joss Whedon/Ultron. Im for sure going to keep up with the news on this. Who will play Batman? Edited July 23, 2013 by last ride 123 Quote

Have you seen Man of Steel? Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy? How will it be doomed? Zack Snyder still directing, David Goyer still writing script(w Snyder) and Chris Nolan is an Executive Producer. This movie is going to be many things, yet doomed is not among of them. If anything Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to bomb, Vin Diesel along with it. Edited July 23, 2013 by last ride 123 Quote

Nemo Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 the "fat" Batman logo in the screenshot looks like the one used in The Dark Knight Returns. this is semi-related because if you read TDKR or AT LEAST saw the animated films (they're not even old, part 2 was released in January), you'd remember that there was a nice buildup for the fight between Batman and Superman and the climax, when they finally engage in fisticuffs. and how great it was. that said, Nazza, i suggest you read the comics or see the films. regardless of who's directing, a fight between Batman and Superman is not some sort of inherent failure like you think it is. if anything, you'll at least have a few minutes to forget about how much of an overpowered piece of shit Superman is when he's getting his face punched in by mecha-Batman. Yes! This guy knows his stuff. The final fight between Supes and Bats was an epic one! If the movie is anything like the comics...it will be EPIC. Quote
