LMFAO! It's because the link of the image comes from your profile and not something like imgur or imageshack, when you change your profile picture your current one's link replaces the former link.

Well, you can save the images to your computer and click on your profile. On the left side if you hover over your current avy, it should say change. Click that, and then chose the file.
