Minitron editing with brienj's tool?

Hey guys, I keep getting an error message, then a red x through the preview box when I try to assign a mini tron to a slot. No doubt it's something I'm doing wrong and not the program, is there a tutorial floating around for this or would someone one be so kind as to walk me through it here,
