Ununiqueified Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 ... is about to hit me. Right, smack, dab, in the middle. Quote
Smacktalks Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I caught a bit of the news earlier which mentioned it, I didn't realise how bad it's expected to be :2 When is it due to hit? Quote
Ununiqueified Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 I'm in it now, but the weaker parts of it. Quote
Deleted Member Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 The latest reports are predicting anywhere between 5 - 10" of heavy rain and strong wind gusts. The brunt of it to start to reach most of the Eastern coast line Late Tonight and then roll out Late Wednesday afternoon/ early evening for Halloween. I know several familes in the local area who have already pulled all their halloween decorations and already rescheduled their Halloween parties for the little kids to be the following weekend.... Also because of the approaching Sandy many schools already closed in the Ny / NJ areas and several Game Stop locations are already informing it's customers they will not be open Tuesday which pushes back those locations actually opening and giving out the WWE13 game on release date.... Many of the one's I called about said they might not open til Friday Quote
Smacktalks Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Has there been many evacuations? I'd heard that the public transport has been called off and people in low level buildings have been told to leave. Quote
Guest Stingertap10 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Same here Zac. I live in CNY, and we're supposed to get hit real hard. Went out for supplies this AM, and not one bottle of water is to be had here.lol Walgreens, Walmart, Price Chopper, P&C, Rite Aid, Lowes, Kinney's and Kmart were all completely out, and none of them were expecting to get anymore, and didn't know when they'd be able to get any more anyway. Luckily it's all we drink here, besides soda, so we're pretty decently stocked on both anyway. Got candles and holders, new power drill, new flash lights (Which apparently were almost as scarce), batteries, and personal power generators. Now it's to watch my Giants beat the crap outta the Cowboys, watch The Walking Dead, and wait for the storm. Oh, also got a corded phone incase the power goes out, and more cell minutes incase the land lines go out. Edited October 28, 2012 by Stingertap10 Quote

I'm sure there'll be more as it gets closer, but up till now, not many have been told to leave. Edited October 28, 2012 by Stingertap10 Quote

Ununiqueified Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) I don't need to evacuate, but were supposed to get four days of rain & 7ft (2.13360 Meters) of snow, & High Winds. And also, I kind of like the NY Giants, but I mostly like the NE Patriots. Edited October 29, 2012 by zacification1 Quote

Smacktalks Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I've just seen* the news which showed a building with the front ripped off due to the hurricane :2 They also showed the hurricane imposed over a map of Europe which had it centered over Paris and it still covered all of the UK, that really got over just how big the storm is. * Chris Quote
Ununiqueified Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 The weather here is starting to slow down just a little. My power isn't out! Quote
jitz Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 It rained a little here, and a plastic outdoor chair blew over. But I live in Australia, I think we just caught the eye of the storm. Quote
Deleted Member Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Boy oh Boy did we get royally screwed by the pooch here! Some 4500 Plus people are still in the dark without heat and power. It's been 20 degrees over night since last week when Sandy rolled over everything in her path. As for my particular neighbor hood. only 1 inter section has working traffic lights some 8 days later as massive trees that were 100+ yrs old from surrounding state parks now lay by the roadside along with utility poles churrned into pieces. We just got ou internet back Yesterday and had loss of Power most of the week. Near by nursing home caught Fire in Sandy's wake of the storm as a resident's heater went up sending him and 3 residental workers all to the hospital. Another one is headed this way Wednesday with potential to dump another 3 -5 " of either more rain and flooding or 3 - 6 " of snow depedning on the artic chill behind it. Not a very accomidating forecast for post Sandy clean up and restorations of Both Power and Heat for the winter. Quote
