Smacktalks Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 THQ today announced the return of the King of the Ring and I Quit matches in WWE '13. The King of the Ring inst restricted to 8 man tournaments as shown in the screenshots below, as you can choose to play 4, 8 or 16 man tournaments, but it doesn't end there, as you can also crown the queen of the ring by choosing to play an all Divas tournament.

Players can also choose the type of match that they’d like for their tournament, such as Normal, Backstage Brawl, Hell in a Cell, Iron Man, Ladder, Last Man Standing, Steel Cage, Submission, Table, TLC or Extreme Rules matches. Also available is the option to randomly select participants if your feeling lazy, or you can simply choose them yourself to recreate past King of the Ring events or find out who is the true "Best in the World" in the current day WWE. Other options allow you to play or simulate matches, with multiplayer also enabled and topped off by the winner seeing their Superstar or Diva crowned in a special coronation cutscene.

As for the I Quit match, it too makes it's return this year and has been completely redesigned from top to bottom to give an authentic representation of the match, just like you would see on TV. The match itself is a 1-on-1 contest, no holds barred and anything goes as you force your opponent to utter the words "I Quit". The way the match plays out is by having your opponent in a grounded state and then pressing the pin button which summons the referee, who will place a microphone at the mouth of your opponent which starts up the I quit mini-game. To avoid quitting the match you'll need to stop the cursor in the target zone before the words "I quit" appear on screen. If however you don't stop the cursor in the target zone, your player will automatically quit the match.

There is also another way to escape the mini-game by having a stored finishing move, which you can use to automatically win the mini-game. Another addition see's the attacking superstar having the option to use an intimidation taunt that will cause your opponents bar to shake, making it harder for them to stop the cursor in the desired area. To make it fair however, the intimidation option is only available if you have enough momentum and using it will cause your momentum to drop, meaning if your opponent does not quit, they'll have an advantage. If however you don't want to just ask your opponent if they quit while they are laid out, you can also win the match by applying a breaking point submission hold which can also cause your opponent to quit.

So there you have it, 2 new matchtypes for exhibition mode are now confirmed, let me know what you think of their inclusion below!
