TCSF Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I know most all the old "hackers" have grown out of it. But I would really love to see people mod the new WWE games and get back to what Smack Talks used to be about... hacking WWE games BTW It is possible to hack/mod PS3 games now I can post tutorials if anyone wants to give it a try. Fozy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 It is way too complex, and if we do hack them, it was for sharing with other people. That's not that simple anymore, plus it's pretty illegal. Quote
Smacktalks Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The main reason was that the likes of Sony & Microsoft stopped allowing the makers of Action Replay to create cheat devices that had the ability to search for and create codes. I cant remember the full details on it but it was to stop people using them to cheat online, unlock achievements, etc. What's the PS3 method? Quote
Thedeadmanrising Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 And plus if we hack mods in the game, online if play with the hacked mod people can report to THQ and on hacked mods and other stuff during the game session while you wait for players to come Quote
yoshiking27 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Besides why would you because THQ threatened to delete Paint Tool. Quote
Chillalex Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 i remember when the gamecube became "hackable". You had to do some nonsense via PSO and the rare broadband adapter, initially (thats how i did the DOR stuff) but on top of that, it started to become a lot more complicated. PSX/N64 was just 8/16 bit codes (i think the latter?) and then GCN stepped it up to 32 bit writes - longer values, higher ranges, longer iteration times, and who knew what half words/dwords were etc? It became very complicated and the barriers to entry grew and grew - same with PS2, then this generation. finally, i think about when i was a kid, we all knew someone with a hacked PSX. now, I don't know anyone who's got a hacked(modded) PS3 or 360 (i know it's possible, but not as fervent.) i dont know what all this means, all i know is that things changed, became complicated (although maybe they aren't? I've been away from it too long to really judge) and I think it's just hard to get started. On a personal note; I do still do stuff like this, but professionally. hurr hurr Quote
Smacktalks Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 That's exactly what I thought. 8/16 bit codes were easy to get to grips with, but when they switched to 32 it just got too complicated. Not to mention that the PS2 side was pretty much limited to looking through the SLES file, which meant it was impossible to do much at all. ...STUPID DWORDS!! 1 Quote
TCSF Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Yea, I know about the cheat devices. The way you do it with PS3 is to install CFW on your ps3, allowing you to copy the whole game to hard drive. Once you do that you can pretty much do anything to any game you want. But, like someone said, it would be too hard for the everyday people. But would still be cool to do. I could redo the triple HIAC 1 Quote
TCSF Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Check out these GTA4 mods for the PS3. They even have custom made cars, characters and everything. Just imagine what we could do with an WWE game. 1 Quote
Smacktalks Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 The same method was used last year to add custom rings, old superstar models, etc. on the 360, but this year THQ changed the formats again and nobody's been able to get around them. Quote
TCSF Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 I'll have to go out and buy the newest WWE game and give it a try. Quote
Smacktalks Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Action Replay did release a DS cartridge that allows you to create your own codes like the older ones but the WWE games on the DS were awful. Quote
TCSF Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 I don't have a DS. I really want to give modding a try on the PS3. I have some time off so, why not? :dunno :D2 Quote
Deleted Member Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 well the simple fact is this: Game contents for certain games are locked on PS3 case in point your WWE 12 data where the Xbox doesn't have it locked so guys Hack in textures and their own Renders so even their caws have a real like counter part rendering on the loading screens.....and as others said it's Not Legal and many folks have been banned from their servers because of the whole J tag issues and hacking ordeal. Personally I think hacking is the easy way out because you can make a shitty face for a guy and just hide it's default look by using skin texture so it tarnishes the traditional way of actually creating and doing the work to morph stuff the right way Quote
Sunny Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I'm guessing you got CFW when you were on OFW 3.55. But, the game needs an updated firmware to start up. If you can PM me the details, it would be appreciated. Quote
