Smacktalks Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 The WCW invasion starts again, only in WWE '12! New wallpaper, roster insight, and more, this is WAR! I won't spoil it for you, but because you've seen most of our roster, you've probably gathered that World Championship Wrestling (WCW) has a huge presence in WWE '12. It's been over 10 years now since WCW was last seen LIVE on our TV sets every Monday night alongside Raw. That won't be the case in WWE '12, however. Not only will WCW make an impact (poor word choice, I know) in your "Road to WrestleMania" journey, but because of some of our incredible features, the ultimate WCW experience can be had. Create-A-Arena in WWE '12 will allow you to re-create any WCW arena that you could imagine. Ideally, you should be able to create your own version of WCW in your Universe mode via the new edit brand feature. Not only will you have your C-A-A creations to host your WCW roster, you'll unlock historicly authentic WCW arenas as you progress in "Road to WrestleMania." "Clash of the Champions," "Nitro," and the grandaddy of them all, "Starrcade," will be unlockable. Here are some screenshots of the Starrcade and Nitro arenas in WWE '12 (don't drool):

Seriously, the only thing missing here is the cult favorite, "Halloween Havoc" arena. The possibilities are pretty endless here, but tell me what classic WCW arenas YOU will create with your copy of WWE '12 in the comments section below. Moving on... We promised you a new WWE '12 wallpaper a few weeks ago, so I was pretty excited when we came up with the idea to give you guys this one. WCW certainly has a rich history when it comes to big names in this industry. And of course the WWE has benefited from some of those names who were previously employed by "dubbya." WWE '12 hosts a lot of the WWE Superstars that put WCW on the map, and we've featured them in the wallpaper below:
STANDARD 800x600 1024x768 1152x864 1280x1024 1600x1200 WIDESCREEN 1440x900 1280x800 1680x1050 1920x1200
Jim Ross If you didn't know that good ol' JR was a mainstay in WCW before his WWE debut, then I'm sure this comes as a shock. For those of you who remember, I'm sure that you'll never forget the way JR said "Sting's" name. It just rings in my head whenever I think of the legend. I personally wasn't a fan of Ross when I was a kid watching WCW, mostly because I was an idiot kid who didn't appreciate him. So when he debuted in the WWE at WrestleMania IX, I'm sure that you can imagine the mark-ish/child-ish hissy fit I threw. My mother wasn't pleased... Rey Mysterio Without question, the most famous Lucha Libre wrestling Superstar of all-time, Rey Mysterio ignited a cruiserweight wrestling revolution during his time with WCW. He was one of the most decorated WCW champions, and really brought me fully into the high-flying Lucha Libre wrestling style that nobody does better than Mysterio. I still get chills every time he does the 619. The Road Warriors The Road Warriors' time in WCW felt like an alternate reality for me at that age. I was clearly a WWE snob, and while I watched and enjoyed WCW, it was never the "big show" to me. So when my friends would tell me that Demolition was a rip-off of The Road Warriors, I'd just turn my head knowing they're right, but not wanting to admit it to myself. This was probably my first experience with denial. The Road Warriors were amazing, and they always carried around that mystique factor that kids like myself routinely sought out during that time. My first memory of The Road Warriors as a kid, was this videogame cover of "WCW Wrestling" for the Nintendo. It just wouldn't be the same having the "Legion of Doom"-red attire for The Road Warriors versus their classic black, so I'm very happy that it will be available via DLC Pack #1. Eddie Guerrero You owe it to yourself to go back and watch some classic Eddie matches in WCW. There's a reason that hardcore fans went crazy when EG won his first big-time championship gold in the WWE. They had watched him throughout his career basically carry the "wrestling" portion of Nitro, and then when he went to the WWE he exceeded expectations. Eddie's matches in WCW are legendary. Seriously, stop reading and watch them now! The Giant So he doesn't have his long hair anymore, but when The Big Show first debuted in WCW, don't you remember the rumors of him actually being Andre's son? Yes, we're idiots... I know it seems unrealistic now to have Big Show leap off of the top rope in WWE '12, but put him in a WCW ring and it suddenly works. Don't believe me? Look it up, and watch his ups. Booker T When I was a kid, my favorite tag team was "Harlem Heat." And yes, like most it was because of their music. His DJ Jazzy Jeff fade was ragin'! Kevin Nash His time in WCW is controversial, but you can't deny that he was an instrumental figure in the success for the company. Whether it was as an Outsider, member of the nWo, or the Wolfpack, Nash has to be in your WCW plans! Vader As a kid, Vader scared the living crap out of me. In his WCW days, he was the epitome of evil. Now though, I see him as a complete bad ass. His feud with Sting was very memorable, and I'm pumped to have him represent the WCW in WWE '12. His role in "Road to WrestleMania" is one of the gems. Arn Anderson To me, Arn Anderson IS WCW. Whenever I think of the company, I think of Arn. His WCW molded rubber action figure was my favorite, and he's one of the few that is best remembered for his days in Georgia, versus his time in the WWE. AA is a no-brainer (no pun) for WWE '12. Lord Steven Regal During his time in WCW, Regal was a "Lord," and found the name "Steven" to be more appealing before he went "big willy-style." Ricky Steamboat I don't even need to say anything here. Look up Flair vs Steamboat. Although this rivalry dominated the NWA/JCP days, their ties to the then modern day WCW are well-known. After his time with the WWE, Steamboat when back to the WCW and feuded with "The Nature Boy." The ultimate face for your WCW brand is Steamboat, no? What do you think of the wallpaper? Pretty cool, eh? Seriously, though, never before have you been this close to having a full-fledged version of WCW available in a WWE Game. WWE '12 lets you do that. It can be the war you always wanted to happen, only this time it will be under your control. What will YOU do with WCW in WWE '12? Source: THQ.com Quote
