Smacktalks Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 http://movies.ign.com/articles/121/1212415p1.html When I first read the title I was quite excited and thought this could be the movie that was rumoured while David Tennant was still playing The Doctor, then I read that the Director wants a "radical transformation", to start from scratch and that he will not adhere to its small screen counterpart's continuity. I now really dont feel much for this at all. Quote
Aero Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 they've tried a doctor who movie... why try it again... STOP BASTARDISING DOCTOR WHO!!! Quote
Smacktalks Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 I remember watching the trailer of the movie after the BBC brought Doctor Who back and it looked so bad I never bothered watching it, until now... I was looking for the trailer on Youtube and i've ended up watching the first half an hour of it. The acting is incredibly bad, but I hate turning off films half way in so it looks like i'm gonna go watch the rest of it. Quote
Smacktalks Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Ok, so after watching it it wasnt as bad as I was expecting, but it was still terrible. Everything from the actors to the sets and special effects made it feel like I was watching "Are You Afraid Of The Dark does Doctor Who". Quote
jitz Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Can you take something so very British and make an American Hollywood movie? Probably not, but I think you can make an American Doctor Who movie that keeps a sense of wonder about the character and his friends and enemies and isn't terrible. It just won't be anything like the series, but nor should it be. Why make a movie if it was just going to be an adaption of the TV show? The TV show is there for that. The thing about Doctor Who is you can make a non-canon American movie with a new lead and new characters in a new time period...and it still can be canon. EDIT - And bar the extremely boring Order of the Phoenix, David Yates did a great job with his Harry Potter movies. Quote
