Well, you can't in Road to WM, but you can in Universe 2.0

Well thing is I never got into Universe mode last year because it feels to much like GM mode. I'm hoping for some major improvements this year to get me more interested in it for a change. Looking forwar to the news tho.

It felt nothing like GM mode last year, what changes are you looking for?

Last year's was bland, had a lot of limitations.

Most of those are gone now.

Titles can be defended on any show.

Storylines make sense now and blend together better.

DRAFT!!!!! And it looks just like it does on TV, with the wrestler faces flipping through until one is picked. Even has the same music.

Everything just feels tighter, no more inferno matches for 8 straight PPV's.

Tag teams/stables stay together, some may still split up, but not anything like it was last year.

EVERYTHING can be edited. We'll get to that here in a few

Maybe controller a certain wrestler and go through the universe going after titles with him and going through the ranks. Instead of having to mess with other wrestlers and matches in the process.

Like the No Mercy storylines? We all mentioned that at the community events. Wouldn't mind seeing that come back, all I can say is we told them that we'd love to see that.

Yea I never like messing with the matches other wrestlers.I just like to control one certain guy for a while then switch him out later for another. I love Universe mode personally, feel in complete control of 3 shows.... (yes 3).

I did say everything is editable. So, you can make that show, whatever you want. Name it whatever you want (Same with Raw/Smackdown).

For instance, I made Nitro on Monday, complete with logo, arena, belts. Then made TNA Impact on Thursday (didn't have logo or arena, but those will obviously be created by the community probably in a matter of days after reelase). Then I put Raw on Friday night. You can then remove entire shows from the draft and for titles. So only wrestlers on TNA can complete for whatever titles you set for that show, no cross over unless you let it. When you set up the show, you name it, set the belts for it, etc.

Or you can have all 3 shows open and compete on other shows here and there.

Unfortunately the title rankings still isn't editable, so you can't just put Cody Rhodes as the #1 contender for every belt But you can give him a title shot whenever you want and for whatever show you want.

So as you can see, the ideas here are pretty much endless. Want an all ECW show? Sure! Want an all Legends show? Sure! Want Raw/Smackdown/Superstars as it is now, SURE!. Want John Cena and Randy Orton to be stuck together on GLOW on Friday nights? Go ahead.

Or not, you can turn on/turn off anyone you want to be involved in the mode. So if you download 50 CAW's and only want to use them in your universe, go ahead.

You can edit titles for what they are set for. So if you want the WCW belt to be the TNA title, you can do that. Can't edit the actual title. Sorry.

^^That's basically a career mode though. I think that would take a fundamental changing of what Universe is to make it a My Player type of deal. You could simply only play the matches of one wrestler if that's the case as Universe will make all the matches for you from week to week if that much is still the same from last year. I like My Player type modes as much as the next guy, but what you're talking about pretty much kills the whole purpose of Universe mode.

Are all belts available from the start for Universe or is there going to need to be unlocking done? Also are you allowed to tell us what these 23 championships are that are in the game?

I don't know all 23 belts in the game, only a few that were shown to me.

They are unlockable, but if you buy Fan Axxess, they are all unlocked from the start like last year.

You touched briefly on it, but how were feuds and storylines handled? Was it natural and interesting or random and thrown together?

The same as last year in a way, just more natural than it was. Didn't feel as disjointed to me.

Another question. You mentioned that you couldn't edit the rankings for titles, which is disappointing, but the blow would be lessened if the rankings don't end up half as bad as last year. Will we see the rankings populated by people who have no business there? For example, last year my WWE and World Heavyweight Title rankings were filled with the Evan Bourne, Justin Gabriel, Goldust, DH Smith and Tyson Kidd's of the world. </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

I still saw some goofyness, not as bad as last year, but there was some. It's an easier fix now allowing title defenses on any show.

One big thing that I and others expressed we wanted back was a title history. So hoping that is in next year.

Is it possible to have a heel vs heel and face vs face feud without one guy turning?

And one more, thanks for all the info EG, but is there any dynamic commentary in Universe? Like acknowledgement of "This guy has had the title for X months"? I didn't really experiment with heels vs heels to see what would happen. I know I kept a faction together for 5 months without anyone turning, until one guy did, and he was immediately a face and feuded with the faction leader. So at least it all made sense.

Commentary still sucks...it is what it is. Besides Cole being a heel, talking about Cole Miners, and praising all things Miz, it's not very good. LOL</td> </tr> </tbody></table>

Matches were 5 a show, up 1 from last year. Superstars only had 3/4 I believe. So whatever show you make on Thursday will have less matches.

Did not see new cutscenes that I noticed, but they were better placed than a guy sitting front row randomly every show.

Still in wrestling gear, reason is that the character models are caked on, so can't just add clothing options. That's why the Nexus armband last year couldn't be moved or adjusted for Wade Barrett and others. It was actually a part of him.

so how does setting belts for a new show and rankings work together?

For instance say I make the Thursday show Ring of Honor and use all caws on that show. Now, I will want to set the World Championship Belt as my main belt, another mid level belt to use as the Television title and give them some tag titles as well.

So here are my questions

1. If I take the World Title off Smackdown, what happens on their show? Do I have to replace it with something?

2. If I assign them one of the other belts, say the WCW championship, will they have rankings for that belt or are rankings still only for WWE, World, US, Intercontinental and Tag belts?

3. Can you split the tag belts like they used to be and have two separate sets of rankings?

4. Is there still just one announce team?

5. I saw one of the achievements has something to do with getting 75% momentum in Universe with a caw... how does that work... is this like the popularity thing in GM mode? God I hope not.

6. Can you still give a caw any ratings you wish... we don't have to build them up through pointless grinding do we?

1. You can replace Smackdown's title with whatever belt you want.

5. I'll let the IGN review explain that better, I didn't mess with actually doing too many matches myself in Universe, did mostly simming through it and played out things like the Rumble, MitB, and the Draft night (winner gets the draft pick).

So does that mean only for the same belts as last year or does that mean each show has a World, Mid level and tag rankings that you can put what ever belt in there you want? If it works like last year, then there is no way to have a world title for each show? You are limited to just two?

There can be 3 World Titles, one for each show. There are 23 belts in the game to choose from and use.

Did u manage to see how many matches per PPV we can have? And can u change the day of the show? (Like change thursday's show to sunday)

Pretty sure PPV's had 6 or 7 matches, can't remember, it's more than a regular show.

Cannot move the date unfortuantely, Always a Monday, Thursday, Friday show.

And also (sorry for all the questions) if we change a show around (name, logo, etc.) does it automatically stay like that every week or do we have to change it every week? and can we do the same for PPVs? (change name/arena etc.)

There's a global setting, so if you change Monday to Nitro, it'll always stay that way until you change it back.

Can't edit PPV's.

To piggy back that, when the computer makes a stupid Money in the Bank Match at Wrestlemania full of people who probably shouldn't even be involved in getting a world title contract, if you change participants will that pretty much eliminate the match being a MitB match? Also, will you only be able to control the person that's cashing in again? I've had my created guy as world champion before, seen the cash in option for the winner and went ahead and hit the cash in figuring I'd have a good match and see if I could beat the guy only to find out I have no choice but to be the guy cashing in. Also don't recall being able to play that match with another player. Really hope they fixed that.

Also, finally, when does the draft occur in Universe? I didn't try that, I'm sorry, I had a few days with the game, but it was playing everything. Hopefully someone else in a preview tried. I know you can cash it in at any point once a guy has the case.

Sorry, for so many questions, just really trying to get something clarified. So, if I give ROH one of the other belts that are not one of the ones from the other two shows (World, WWE, Intercontinental, or US), will there be rankings for that belt? Or, are only the belts that were ranked last year, ranked this year?

I'll try to clarify this.

So Raw has the WWE Title and USA Title

ROH (Thursday show) has Random belt and Random Belt

Smackdown has World title and IC Title

Each show will have their own rankings for their own titles. Then you can lock down each show so only the participants on that show can compete for those titles.

Just some questions about the Draft show. I assume it takes place on the RAW or whatever you make the Monday show.

Is it all five matches are now a draft pick? Also is the pick random or do you choose who you want to move?

All the matches occur on Raw. And no, it's completely random. You can obviously move them back.

I didn't try if I cut Smackdown off from the draft what would happen, but my Thursday show was cut off and none of their wrestlers were involved.

So each match was a Raw (nitro) guy vs. Smackdown (raw) guy. Winner got the draft pick for their show.

Unfortunately, it is. Since out of the box it recognizes that it's WWE. But you have the editing power to make it 3 different brands that don't intersect except for PPV's. You can obviously change all the matches though.

It's a limitation I know they are looking to change, but not sure if it'll be ever given the green light by WWE. They don't have multiple PPV's a month so why would their game to accommodate other fed's. So the dev's basically found a way around the limitation. It works well.

Excellent I much prefer a random selection it makes it more exciting. I dont suppose you could tell us what Arenas are in the game?

I think they were all announced. Every PPV, Raw, Smackdown, Superstars, NXT, Nitro, Clash of the Champions and Starrcade.

It's too bad we can't go back to the era of single brand PPVs in the game, though.

Trust me, I agree. This does work though, makes it feel like there's a grand ol thing going on.

For example, I took all 3 champions of each fed and had a Hell in a Cell match at Night of the Champions. Gave it that grand feeling.

Oh so we can edit the matches on a PPV Card?

Yes, you can edit each match. If you want Raw only PPV January, then a Smackdown one in February, and then a ROH one in March, you can do that. Just have to edit before the show.

Did you try changing the participants in a PPV title match? Will that make it a non title match like last year? I know last year, if I wanted to add someone's manager to a title match, it made it non title at a ppv.

I was able to make a World Title match, but did not try editing them to see what happened.

Well that's not so bad, I suppose.

For me, I loved Universe mode last year, kept me playing the game, but at the same time, I HATED how limited it was. I expressed this when I met with the devs of WWE '12.

Most, not all mind you, of my issues have been fixed and this will eat up TONS of time.

I still wish I could book matches better and keep better track of feuds. Still needs to steal or buy a text sim to really get Universe to where it needs to be. And still needs to get it online!

We tried to get that across as much as possible.

But in the mean time, Universe 2.0 will make many "sim" guru's for wrestling very happy. Giggas was someone who immediately came to mind for me with this mode and when I was pressing questions about it.

1 does the mitb match have better ai are they smarter

2 does smackdown have the blue briefcase and raw a red one

3 could you explain some nex cutscenes

4 is blood still in if so does it look better

5 is every match on the draft show for 1 draft

or are there like matches what give you 2 picks

6 is wwe draft the only special show or are there shows like kotr and such

1. Not discussing the AI, this is just Universe, the in game wrestling AI is the same across all modes.

Hey did u get a chance to see how MITB matches and cashing in works? What I mean, is;

1) Can you choose who you want in your MITB matches without it turning into a normal ladder match?

2) Can you play a Championship match before using the MITB winner to cash in, or is it still simulated to the winner?

3) Can you choose who you want to be when cashing in the briefcase?

You can choose to be whoever won the case, yes. Not sure if that answers your question.

I'm pretty sure MITB was during Mania, but I may have it confused. I don't remember the PPV being in the game, I can be wrong. It's been awhile and I was overloaded with info during the 3-4 days.

Universe and exhibition are separate right? One thing I hated was sitting making a sweet new entrance for a Caw, selecting a match to see it only to forget to turn off universe and being jumped during the entrance!

They have the tile picture you made when you make the guy. Yes, they are involved.

A stretch of a question, admittedly: is WWE Universe online-enabled? Another way of wording it: can I set up a WWE Universe, take it online, and invite friends to play with and against me in rivalries and for belts in the same Universe (presumably with some sort of locked timestep for results syncing / making sure everyone gets the same story path)?

No, not online in anyway.

Yes we had a long QA session back in June over it with ideas. It's talked about but not sure if possible.

Yeah I wanna say thanks too. One thing that pisses me off is when community guys get to go to these events and then don't bother answering any questions. Thanks for not being one of those guys.

I would like to know, what were your biggest issues with last year's Universe Mode and how have those been addressed this year. I know you said last year had limitations, but which ones bothered you?

I hated how I couldn't defend a belt when I wanted last year. Hated random tag teams breaking up. Hated the fact that after awhile it felt stale.

Having the ability to edit shows and more control gives this one a big thumbs up and will keep it continually fresh with user created content like Impact rings, ROH rings, WCCW rings, etc.

And you're welcome. I have 2 reasons to go to an event, one is to make the product better, and two is to relay whatever info I can to the community.

What are the minor annoyances?

No way to control feuds.

No way to edit rankings.

Still feel too much on the outside for me, if that makes sense.

Overall though, I do LOVE the mode.

Not in universe mode. But it's outside in the create a storyline like last year.

Hi, you mentioned that you couldnt edit the rankings to make cody rhodes number 1 contender for every title. but you could give him a title shot whenever you wanted.

so does this mean that the rankings system dont really matter.

e.g. in week 1 if i wanted to could i make zack ryder vs randy orton for the world title on smackdown and have zack ryder win the world title even though hes not the no.1 contender and in all fairness has no right being in the world title picture? </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

It matters only in AI controlled matches/instances. You control everything if you want.

Last year, I thought GM was pretty bad.

Every match it seemed to have a random interference during the entrances or a pre-emptive attack right before the match. Has this been changed? Is it more random? Last year it felt like it happened 50-70% of the time... would you say that it's a lot less?

1.THis is a SOS question : is the AI any better?are the matches actually challenging this time? i know its not about universe but i plead you to answer since this is my main concern(btw did you play on legend diffuculty level?)

Not really. I was just happy most of my gripes were fixed. I mean there's nothing that made me get out of my seat and get excited like in RTWM mode.

A few questions I have, if you wouldn't mind answering them

1. With the ability to edit all three shows, does that mean that the middle show (Superstars or whatever) has a roster? Last year, I tried to make ECW my middle show but since they didn't recognize the roster, they never appeared on the show.

2. With three different rosters, do you have any idea of how the draft would work?

3. Is there any qualifying matches this year, ie elimination chamber qualifier, etc?

4. Is the allies and rivalries better this year? Last year, it seemed like every time I looked at my roster, no one was allied or rivaled, even though I just set them up a few weeks prior.

5. With there being 23 titles in the game, how many can be active at once, and how many can be on each show?

1. Yes, the 3rd show can have it's own roster and be completely independent from other shows if you want.

2. I do not know, I made TNA independent but had Raw/Smackdown, so they were the only rosters in the draft.

3. Not that I saw.

4. About the same unfortunately.

5. Pretty sure 2 titles per show plus tag belts.

How are we supposed to wait one more month for this game? lol, what would you recommend?

I played it in June and August, put yourselves in my shoes! LOL I'd rather be in yours and be excited without playing it. It's like having your favorite toy ripped from your hands and having to wait a long time to play with it again! LOL

I've got a few comments sent to me privately about why I didn't try this mode or that.

It all came down to time guys. In June I played RTWM and single/multiplayer. Universe wasn't ready yet.

In August I played Universe for about 4 hours total. I tried to do as much as I could so I could cover as much as I could, but you have to realize at the same time, I wanted to see things I wanted to see and experiment with that. So example of not trying interferring in a match, I just didn't get to it.

I wish I could have played it for 40 hours straight and been able to give you all the ins and outs. I'm trying with what I can though.

Sorry if I haven't answered anyone's question thorough enough.

1- Are there 30 or 40 competitors in the Royal Rumble this year?

2- Can you put a Diva (i.e. Beth Phoenix, Kharma) in the Royal Rumble?

3- Can you still pin guys outside the ring in an Elimination Chamber match?

4- Does the Undertaker automatically get two WrestleMania matches if he already has a title like last year?

5- Is the Million Dollar belt still in the game?
