What have been your top 3 movies of 2010?

Mine have to be

1. Inception

2. Blackswan

3. Shutter Island

I was thinking about making this topic a few days ago...

Best movie of 2010 for those who like to be all business - Inception

Best movie of 2010 - Piranha 3D

That's not even a joke, Piranha 3D was the best way you could spend 90 spare minutes this year.

Inception

Kick Ass

Toy Story 3

Still wanting to see Tron Legacy, aside from those nothing else has really stood out to me.

i can't accept shutter island as a good film, my reasons are 2 fold -

1. the trailer i saw at the cinema for it was basically the movie in in 4 minutes, it gave farrrrr too much away.

2. after seeing the trailer, i hadn't heard anything more about the movie.. why? because the changed the name, the original name was "patient 16" (or what ever the number of the patient that was missing was), whilst i'm glad they changed this, they had already made the trailer with this title.... it took even more away from the movie.

as such, its closer to my bottom 10 than it is my top. yest the acting etc was very good, but thanks to the trailer, it was like watching a movie that ur supposed friend ruined for you before you got the joy of seeing it... only this time it was their own fault. rookie mistake. ruined the film!

Luckily, I didn't see the trailer, so it was a bit of a rollercoaster with the story. You were never sure what to believe, even right at the very end. Superb writing and acting. Definitely one of DiCaprio's best roles.

i have a dvd rip of it, i might give it another watch some time, because like i say, acting etc is more than decent, so maybe it will change my mind, but i think the best way of summing this up due to my viewing of the trailer is this -

i loved SAW, but after the first viewing, due to me knowing what happens, it isnt half the movie it was.

alternatively -

its like sitting down to watch 6th sense only to be told "he's dead"

granted theres a bit of an "is he / isn't he" dilema at the end of shutter island, but i tend to think for a while in these scenarios and make a decision. much like i made a decision at the end of inception.

to get slightly back on topic, alot of movies havn't really stood out to me this year so i'll say the ones i've enjoyed most then come up with a better list when i've sat down and thought about it -

the social network... just thought it was brilliant

inception.. because it lived up to the hype i guess

The Ateam... nostalgic and not as terrible as expected led to me really enjoying this

harry potter & tdh pt1.. better than all the rest of the HP series

the sorcerers apprentice... tho i had a few drinks 1st so i could be wrong

youth in revolt... bit fucked up but very enjoyable.

tho best movie i've seen this year is actually from 2008... i just managed to miss it until this year - Into the Wild

I havent seen too many new films this year but from what I have seen i'd go with Toy Story 3 as my film of the year, followed by Inception.

I was watching a podcast before talking about the best movies of the year and all 3 people decided on True Grit, anyone seen it?

i'm gonna be a dick again and say toy story 3 wasn't great too. but i'll place that mainly on what it had to live up to, sooooo many years of hype and a benchmark set by the 1st 2 movies
