Smacktalks Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 To give an update on the Online League for SvR 2011 it's still currently in development, with around 50% of the work done so far, with the bugs that stopped me setting it up last time now resolved. When I started out developing it I wanted to get it up first and foremost as a simple league for members to compete in and only for Xbox Live, however looking at it theres a lot that can be worked into the league and i've now managed to set it up both for Xbox Live and the Playstation Network with multiple leagues. I've also kept the coding universal so that leagues for other games can also be added, i.e. Fifa, Call of Duty, Etc. Going back to SvR tho, i'm hoping to have the basic version ready to test sometime next week and i've listed some of the new features for the first version below. Forum Integration - Access is via forum accounts so theres no need to signup for new accounts or re-enter any account details. Achivements - Achivements have been worked into the league system to unlock and display on your profile, examples being achivements can be unlocked for BETA Testing, Winning your first match, playing 10 matches, etc. Quote
jitz Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Sounds alright, I just hope THQ have sorted out the network code and the multiplayer is actually playable for me... Quote
Smacktalks Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 To update this, it's now been almost 2 weeks since I started creating the league system and it's now working, it just needs to have a few bugs fixed and the dev messages removed, once that's done i'll give people access to test it out. One of the problems last time around was trying to work out a points system that would mean new members could compete with members that have played numerous matches as the previous football system of 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw meant new members would need to win a bunch of matches to catch up and doesnt really work in a wrestling game league. To fix this, i've implemented a system that is more fitting for a wrestling game where the points you win depends on the strength of your opposition. This way, when a league starts or a new user joins a new user starts with 1000 points. If you challenge someone with the same amount of points you stand to win a generic 10 points or lose 10 points. If your more adventurous and want to challenge someone that has played a few matches and stands at 1050 points then you'll stand to win more points and lose less points, whereas challenging someone rated lower than yourself you'll stand to win less points if you win but lose more points if you lose. What do you think of this system? Also going back to it being a league, at present the person with the most points in the league is named champion, but I think it might be better to have the current champion stay top until one of the top five competitors beats them. What do you think? Quote
Aero Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 wrestling being wrestling inst really a league, so the point system sounds good in that it gives people an idea of who is good at the game etc. but as such, the best wrestler doesn't always have the title so who ever is top of the league shouldn't necessarily be champion... that said, the worst wrestlers rarely get title shots. so i'm in favor of some other set up as reguards the champ, and liking the league point system. anyone in the top 5 seems fair as jobbers tend not to get title shots. i'd run with that plan unless anyone has any other suggestions! Smacktalks Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 I'll try it out tomorrow and see how it works, basically if you are the champion you'd need to defend your title once a week or so against someone in the top 5 or the title gets vacated. That way whoever is top/champion cant just stay top by defending it against "jobbers". Quote
