Smacktalks Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_MqZn7E-mk What do you make of this video? Nobody's confirmed if it's to hype a movie return or a new game, but it's nothing like the previous Mortal Kombat movies. I really started to get into it, then it ended Quote
Subrick Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I think this will work. My only fear is that it's nothing more than a fan trailer. Quote
Smacktalks Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 That was what I first thought, possibly to try and tempt a studio into picking it up but it seems theres a rumour going around that they'll be an announcement about it at E3. Quote
takersfan Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 It looks like they dont have any powers and its not very Mortal Kombat like. Id like to see more about this movie before i give my judgement but it looks kinda shaky. Quote
Smacktalks Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 It'll come down to which characters they use and wether they can give them a valid explanation for their powers. Scorpion still seems to have his powers and surely Sub-Zero will be the same? I was talking with my mate about them saying it was Sub-Zero's brother that was killed, I always thought Sub-Zero and Scorpion were brothers, didn't realise there was a younger Sub-Zero. Quote
TCSF Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 They do have a new 2-d/3-d Mortal combat game coming out. Quote
jitz Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 TOPIC REVIVAL Ok, so it was never mentioned in this topic that the trailer was made by Kevin Tancharoen, whom has extensive (shit) music video experience, and also directed Fame...which also kinda fits into the first category. Anyways, turns out he's a massive Mortal Kombat fan, and had this idea for a MK movie, and made a trailer to sell the idea to Warners. So, that's the info that was readily available 7 months ago...that no one here research because you're all retarded. Anyways, come forward to present day. His sales pitch work...kinda. Warners has hired him to direct a few web shorts to promo character's back stories and such as promo for the new game. Some of the cast from the trailer will reprise their roles too. I wouldn't be surprised if these kick arse, that Warners are well aware he's keen on making a full length movie, and said movie was discussed when these shorts were discussed. So here's hoping they're good, because I thought the trailer was fucking awesome and a breath of fresh air for Mortal Kombat. Quote
Aero Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 i have a mortal kombat soundboard on my phone... its the only soundboard i own... this is all! Quote
Smacktalks Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 The web shorts should be good, did it mention which characters he'd be doing them for? I was kinda hoping he'd get the green light to go ahead with the full length movie, hopefully he will if the other shorts get a good reception. I re-watched the old MK movies after watching this a few months back and they really didnt stand up to the test of time, the CGI was terrible. Quote
Subrick Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I think the first Mortal Kombat movie is a fun little movie to watch. Not very good, not very bad, just very average. Christopher Lambert being Raiden was a good casting choice though. Quote
