Smacktalks Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Codebreaker off the ladder! SvR 2011 looks good, cant really tell if there's much changed from the screenshots tho. From the first look at the screens of WWE Allstars I'm not keen on the "look" of the game, it's kinda like the physiques in LOWM taken to the extreme, but i'm looking forward to seeing the gameplay in action. WrestlingFan24 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 dude I totally marked when I saw the ladder finishers I've wanted those for years , it also might be interesting to see how the weapons will break down. Really dude? I noticed a big difference in the graphics atleast on the close shots. yeah I'm probably gonna pass on all stars seems like more of a kid game tbh Quote
ALL STAR Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Im more interested in the All Stars for a couple of reason one being the TNA team are working on it, and from the screens and the combo system it looks refreshing where as SVR 2011 looks like last years with a new coat of paint ill wait and see how these new features look in some gameplay videos. jitz Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 In regards to WWE All Stars, I'll take a quote from myself over a year ago.. I'd like EA to get either the WWE or TNA license and add it to the EA Sports BIG line up though. I think they'd do a pretty good job. Well the license stayed with THQ, but they've decided to rip off the "BIG" line up, so that'll do. Still, it looks like it will come up short. GameSpot have a larger E3 video that shows some classic THQ WWE game faults. Like being on the offensive, going for a move to the outside and missing completely due to the game being shit, putting you at the disadvatage. Looks to have a very limited move set like TNA,which was sold by the producer with you will do "a lot of moves by chance", just because you're opponent will be in states you can't predict. Seems like this combo system will bering with it some quirks. As for SvR2011, it looks identical to 2010. You cannot tell a marked improvement in the graphics. The weapons breaking look like a game developed for PS2. See the way the ladder bends when you do a move on it when it's leant against the ropes? That's not how metal reacts, so that's not pysics. It's like it's made of rubber. I like how he said they weren't all pre-animated moves anymore...well they are, they are just the moves they already had in the game, weapons just react to them now...like they should have from the start. It was good when the producer was seeling new chair moves and they just played the old leg chair stomp. Oh and you can move the moves around this time, mostly through the lazy rotation of pre-canned moves. So you're wrestler will just spin on the spot without moving his feet, as demostrated throughout the video. This would have been achieveable from the very first SmackDown!. That is simple programming, I just like to think that they never did it because it's cheap and not proper implementation of an idea. Then they showed Undertaker walking around with the powerbomb; a move that has been in for years now. So they never showed ANYTHING NEW. Not once. Spinning moves and jelly ladders don't count. Quote
ALL STAR Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 With the new physics, Smackdown is reallly showing its age all the new features etc are just forced in like an ill fitting jigsaw piece. Your right though this could of been done ages ago, and even with the steps forward the tables ladders etc just dont react like they do in an actual match. Tables kind of expode even from a powerbomb instead of snapping down the center. The Smackdown series really needs a reboot the game really hasnt changed a whole lot since 06 came out. Quote
jitz Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 I also cringed at the mention of "Road to WrestleMania". Relegating most of your roster to exhibition matches makes no sense to me. I thought it was an interesting experiment a couple of years ago, to see how in depth stories played out. ALthough the stories ended up being largely interchangable with terrible voice acting anyway. So there turned out to be no point to them. The whole 'story mode' needs another rethink. I think an RPG element between fights would break up the action nicely (as I find going fight to fight with the same wrestler burns me out on that wrestler). The idea was touched upon in Just Bring It! with the first person backstage stuff. It's was implemented poorly, as most things were in that game. Done today as a third person backstage RPG, I think it could work. You would have 'quest givers' in GMs, Vince McMahon, and other wrestlers. With quests needed a few fights to finish, and maybe even a little item collecting in match like when title belts and personal items are stolen from ringside. You could even level up with stat boosts, and unlocks like alternate attires and extras. That's a very basic outline of an idea I've put very little thought into, but it's something I'd like to play rather than Road to WrestleMania where your only choices are "would you like to have a table match or an iron man match?". The table match ofcourse, because I can win that in four minutes rather than takin 15 minutes to do an iron man match. Stupid fucking game. Quote
CrossFan Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 An RPG element sounds cool. Like insert a morality-like system where rushing into the ring to aid a fellow wrestler to gain you face points or abandon your partner in a match to gain heel points. Something along those lines anyway. Quote
