jitz Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 So Sam Raimi and therefore Tobey Maguire pulled out of Spider-Man 4, so Sony has released a statement saying they're rebooting the franchise. The script puts Peter Parker back in high school and learning to deal with his abilities and stuff like that, you know, the first Spider-Man movie. I'm not too fussed about that, the first one was pleasant, the second great, the third an abysmal stinker; I didn't hold too much hopes for the fourth and with Raimi going to heads with Sony over the villain (Raimi wanted Vulture, Sony wanted someone who didn't suck, fair call on their part I say), creative in was in shakey water from the start. The problem I have with it is - how the fuck do you explain to the mainstream audience - "Forget those three movies before, this new one is unrelated to those". I grew up with comics, I'm used to Marvel retconning on a monthly basis, these people though don't even know what the word retcon means! It's probably the biggest franchise ever to get a reboot while still "active" aswell, this isn't the Hulk movies, people actually saw Spider-Man, millions of people. Oh well, atleast we've seen the back of that smug wanker Tobey Maguire, fuck he was infuriating. Quote
Aero Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 batman kinda rebooted itself.. i dont see the big deal. whilst i enjoyed the movies, i hated tobey and disliked the fact that the ppl on the rtain saw his face... to be honest, topher grace (Eddie/Venom) would have made a better spiderman than tobey if you ask me... also whats her face that played mary jane, was she not dicking about on a new contract too? she was also starting to look a bit haggered and out of place. as such, i have high hopes for this in all honesty, even if im not sure how well it will be accepted by the public... god i hope they dont do something silly like use the iron spidey costume or something. phil Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Rumor has it that Michael Bay is one of the directors Sony has en eye out for in regards to directing the reboot. Does that sound cringe-worthy or laughable? Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Spider Man with explosions. Quote
jitz Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 It's impossible for Michael Bay to do the movie, he's signed on an actively working on Transformers 3 for a July 4, 2011 release date. This Spider-Man is slated in for 2012, Michael Bay wont be able to start till after Transformers 3 is released, I don't see there being enough time. batman kinda rebooted itself... There was an eight year gap between Batman and Robin and Batman Begins, the franchise was inactive. Quote
Aero Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 and by 2012 there will have been 5 years between this and spiderman 3.... 5 years is still a fair whack... plus 3 was balls anyways, suggesting 4 was always gonna be roughly just as balls if not worse. REBOOT ALL THE WAY Quote
CS Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 imo they just realized how big of a fuckup it was to kill off vemon after one movie. Quote
Big Bizang Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I don't give a fuck what the public thinks as long as I finally get my good Spider-man film sans dipshit, pussy Maguire Parker. He was never Peter Parker. Quote
Subrick Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 It's official. This movie will suck. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/1/20100117/ten-pattinson-to-replace-maguire-in-spid-c60bd6d.html Sparkly Spidey Quote
Big Bizang Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 You shut the fuck up Subrick! Stop ruining people's day! I just woke up man. Quote
jitz Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 Ha! and Zac Efron wants a piece of the action too, things can't get any worse. Quote
Fozy Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I think pattinson is a good actor, same with efron. However, do they have the look for peter parker? I don't know. I'd much prefer pattinson though. Quote
Aero Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 dude, tobey was shit as spidey too and the public went with it, the movie will survive with either of those to wanks, but i'd love to see someone better suited! i still think topher grace would have made a great peter parker, not a fantastic eddie brock tho Quote
CS Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 From what I've read pattinson is too busy with other movies for it. Personally I'd like to see Emile Hirsch given a shot. He's scrawny, could quite easily pass for a high school kid still and actually has the wit and humor needed to play spidey. It should have been Jake Gyllenhaal and not maguire in the first place though, guy played the perfect nerd in donnie darko. Instead, he gets Prince of Persia. Quote
