Smacktalks Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I've just had an epic 20 min halves game with my mate, which went to extra time and seen me down to 9 players. I lost the game 13-12 (), however I scored right before the whistle to make it 13-13, but it ruled offside, even though the replay showed a defender on the goal line. So my question, if I am shooting 1 on 1 against the keeper and there is a defender behind the keeper, is that player playing me onside? or does he not count because he's behind the keeper? I mate thinks he doesn't count, but I say he does, because he's on the pitch and active. Google failed to solve this question. Quote
Aero Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 as far as i was aware he counts.... however, if he was at any stage behind the goal line, he is ruled as off the pitch and as such you where offside. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 If a defender is behind the goalkeeper, then he counts as being the goalkeeper for the offside rule, if you then received the ball whilst being in front of the goalkeeper with the defender in front of you, you are offside. Quote
Smacktalks Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 Well I had the Goalkeeper and the defender in front of me, so if the defender was counted as the keeper, then does the keeper count as the last defender? He'd then be in front of me, so i'd be onside? It's the first time I've come across this situation in a game or watching football, never seen it happen to see what the ruling was. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I'll try and explain this way... (Goal)Goalkeeper--------Striker--------Defender = if striker receives the ball like this, then Offside. (Goal)Defender----------Striker--------Goalkeeper = Offside (Goal)Goalkeeper--------Defender-------Striker = Onside (Goal)Defender----------Goalkeeper-----Striker = Onside If what you were describing Paul is the 4th example, then you were definitely onside. Smacktalks Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 Yeah, that's the one. FIFA 10 is flawed. Quote
Aero Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 u sure the defender at any stage wasnt off the pitch? seriously if he was IN the goal or something, he's technically not an active player! in real life i'm sure the ref etc would usually allow play to continue but i'd guess in games they are a bit more strict lol Quote
Smacktalks Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 Nah, he was on the pitch. Even if he was behind the line FIFA would still count the player as active, i've tried setting up freekick's were my player has been off the pitch and then had him run on after i've played the ball, but it still recognises him as active/offside. Aero Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 ah fair enough. in last years game, was playin a match against united, got tackled, advantage was played then the ref went back to dish out a card.... make sense of this - scholes made the tackle, he didnt have a yellow or anything to his name, however, for some reason stevie g got awarded the yellow instead... his 2nd of the match, and he was sent off... it made no sense... 2 mins later, stevie g scores... we went to team management to discover scholes got sent off... no sense at all Quote
jitz Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Yeah, that's the one. FIFA 10 is flawed. I came to that conclusion when you said this... I lost the game 13-12 Quote
Aero Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 yeah thats a bit fucked up... or ur both shit at defending Quote
Joe =/ Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 ........ read the OP. 20 minutes a half. 40 minute game. 40 MINUTES. THAT'S ALOT OF TIME. OKAY ? GOALS, YEAH ? LOTS OF THEM. FUCK. Quote
Aero Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 thats still a fuck ton of goals for BOTH to conceed Quote
jitz Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I cant figure out if he was being sarcastic or not... Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 He weren't, but Joe is shit at FIFA. Quote
Joe =/ Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Have you guys even played fifa 10 ? It's not that hard to score against the "goal keepers" that they like to call them. I prefer to call them retards. Youtube fifa 10 goalkeepers and see what comes up. Regular online ranked matches are 5 minutes a half (I think), so a 10 minute game. High scoring matches are frequent in Fifa 10, all I ever see some of my friends play are online ranked games and the score is always pretty high when I look (5-3 , etc). Whenever I play with friends the score is very often similar , sometimes even shit like 7-5. It's not hard to understand how a 40 minute game which is 4x the length of a normal match could end up 13-12, especially when Paul is pretty good at Fifa. Oh shit, look at that - I just read the first post again and saw it also went to EXTRA TIME.. Even more time to score goals ! I'm surprised more goals weren't scored to be honest. Quote
jitz Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 ...yeah he's agreeing with me, but trying to argue against me. I said it was flawed just by looking at the goals scored, and you're agreeing by saying the goal keepers are complete shit. So the goal keepers are flawed and it's easy to score in a game of football, which is the exact opposite of real life. Quote
Joe =/ Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I was mostly replying to Aero (his shit defending comment). Hey, even if the goal keepers were as good as they were in fifa 09, that scoreline would still be about right ! That's alot of time to score goals, come on guys. Quote
Aero Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 nah, i still think, unless both teams had shit defences, theres something wrong. you give me a team with a half decent defence and you'll not get that many goals past me in 50mins. ..unless you've got like 2 torres, 2 ronaldos and 2 gerrards attacking, then maybs lol Quote
Joe =/ Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Pffft, lets have a match you scumbag ... ! Quote
Fozy Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 You're joking aero, right? In 50 minutes I could put 15 goals into your net easily. Quote
Smacktalks Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Aero i'll take up that challenge! Fifa 10's keepers aren't amazing, but there still better than Fifa 09. As for the amount scored it's about right when you add in extra time, as a lot of goals come down to mistakes from playing for so long and the players tiring. Bringing on substitutes really makes a difference in the longer games, whereas the freshness of them in a 6-min match isn't that noticable. Let me know if you want a 40 min game Iain and see how many you concede. Quote
