Aero Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Anyone care about the RATM Vs joe Mclederry (or McEldry as he seems to be called) from x factor race for number 1? i bought killing in the name of as i've recently discovered its not on my computer or spotify, thought now was an opertune time to download it.. and legally for a change lol Quote
Smacktalks Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Legally? Must be that Christmas Spirit! I'd like to see Joe win it, seeing as he lives just a few blocks away. If anyone other than the X-Factor winner gets the Christmas No.1 i'd be really suprised, as the X-Factor winner is usally miles ahead because of all the TV/Radio interviews, etc. Not to mention all the fans that voted in the TV show. Aero Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 but have you heard that shit he's been made release? if we;re not getting a christmasy song then killing in the name of is the next best thing lol Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) DON'T BUY IT. DOWNLOAD IT ILLEGALLY. Simon Cowell doesn't care. He has shares in Sony BMG (and is paid quite a hefty wage by them) who produced RATM's single, and this campaign was devised by a director of Sony BMG. He don't care who gets number one, he'll win anyway. His stranglehold on music grows deeper than the X Factor. Edited December 19, 2009 by RingMaster2001 Quote
Heart Breaker Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuIa5NoPH9c&feature=player_embedded Recent interview Rage did with BBC radio about Killing in the Name Of reaching the top of charts this holiday season. Definitely recommend watching if you're a fan of Rage. Or if you're a fan of the F bomb being dropped over a live radio broadcast and seeing the DJ's freak. Quote
Aero Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Ming, he's been caring plenty from all accounts i've heard, dunno why because he's still making a fortune.. possibly more due to extra ppl buying joes single to edge out RATM joe changed his tune mid week too and is now very bitter about the whole thing... not that the campaign was ever against him personally, that said, sounds like joe won by a few thousand (less than 10,000) as far as this weeks charts go (tho they had the advantage of CD singles), the xmas charts might be a different matter..... i'm very concerned by the ppl who bought joes tho as its so shit, atleast i love killing in the name of. on a side note, all profit RATM make are headed to charity. Matt Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 i think it'll be a shame if joe doesnt win, not that he's overly talented or anything, but the RATM song is shite. Would however be fun to see them on future copys of "NOW VOLUME XX" Quote
Aero Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 once again, "the climb" is SHITE. RATM was chosen for the basic point of the song "fuck you i wont do what you tell me" it was always gonna get more ppl to buy it than any christmas song really.. also, YEY! a minor victory for ppl who dislike xfactor Quote
Jonny Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) I caught an update on the news today that RATM have hit number 1 for christmas. I wish I put a bet on it now. Edited December 21, 2009 by Jonny Quote
Chillalex Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 once again, "the climb" is SHITE. RATM was chosen for the basic point of the song "fuck you i wont do what you tell me" it was always gonna get more ppl to buy it than any christmas song really.. also, YEY! a minor victory for ppl who dislike xfactor Ironically it got to number one by a load of people saying "fuck you I have just done what a facebook group told me to do." fucking retarded country, seriously. People should have grown out of this phase of spiteful and ANGSTY rebellion by the age of 17. Quote
Aero Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 its not that ironic, the concept appealed to alot of people and there were various different groups suggesting different songs, so whilst some ppl probably did follow on like "rebelious" sheep similar to that of those who buy the xfactor single because its the xfactor single, but there was an element of choice in there. Quote
Chillalex Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 how is it not ironic, that a song with the main theme of angsty I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME TO DO, has had alot of people run out and buy it because THEY WERE TOLD TO. You say there's an element of choice but clearly, there's been more than enough people doing the same thing to make it number 1. No one was ever told to buy that x-factor kid's song either. Maybe people just liked it. fucking country. Quote
Fozy Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I didn't buy it because I thought the whole concept was pretty sad. I already have the song, and the people who bought more than one.. Well, thanks for getting it to no.1!! I don't think anyone cares about the charts, do they? Quote
Aero Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 lmao i dont give a fuck about the charts usually but i have fond memories of the race for xmas number 1 years ago, or more recently when the darkness had it wrapped up all week in a song that involved justin shouting "bells end" over a bounch of children, then was beaten on the last day by the depressing and not very xmassy mad world cover from donnie darko sound track. i noticed about 2 weeks ago i didnt have the track on my current computer so i did wait and BUY it, but you'll be glad to know i only bought it once lol Quote
