Smacktalks Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I was having a conversation with some mates before about the new SAW film that's coming out and one of my mates said he ended up being sick watching SAW 4 (Might have been 3) at the point where the man and woman are pinned together and one of them has to pull out the pins to survive, whilst puncturing a vital organ on the other and leaving them to die. It made me think back on the horror films i've watched, of which the SAW films are probably the sickest, but I can't really say they've made me physically sick. Anyone found themselves physically sick watching a horror film? If so, which and what part? Quote
ALL STAR Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Dont think any horror film has made me feel sick dont really mind the blood and stuff doesnt bother me, think at times things can be a little uncomfortable to watch but thats about it. Trying to think of anything else kind of drawing a blank. Quote
jitz Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 It made me think back on the horror films i've watched, of which the SAW films are probably the sickest Hostel and Hostel 2 are probably the most gruesome mainstream horror movies. The first one especially pushed what's acceptable. I've never felt ill, but I've never cringed as much as when the achilles tendons got cut in Hostel. Quote
Smacktalks Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 I've never watched any of the Hostels, but heard there some of the most gruesome movies made. Are they worth watching or is it just constant gore with a bad story? Quote
Aero Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 hostel was pretty bad, but i prefer the saw storyline so it gets the win, its pretty gruesome. my ex had a real issue wuth them showing a rape scene in the hills have eyes, mainly as she had recently gven birth and the baby was there while she was being raped.. i now cant remember if i was grossed out by it or if i just pretended i thought it was to shut her up... im fairly sure it's the latter tho Quote
jitz Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 The hostels aren't known for an earth shattering plot, no. The Saw plot is better, but Hostel is definitely more violent in a sickly kind of way, and part of that is due to the very simple plot. They're worth watching, especially with a female friend who doesn't like horror movies. My girlfriend walked out of the cinema after the first one, nearly in tears, she wasn't in a good mental state at all. Watch them. Quote
Smacktalks Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 The female friend that doesn't like horror movies was the reason I didn't get to watch them in the first place. :2 Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I just watched Paranormal Activity and i can say I'm fairly sick... fuck hand-held cameras. Quote
Spectre Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Haven't Seen PA but i hear its all hype, I agree with Jitz that Hostel does push it a bit to far, i do enjoy the SAW films, the trailers for the first 3 made me think they were going to be a gore fest but actually watching them wasnt bad. Only time i cringed during the films was the opening trap for SAW 5, with the swinging blade. Quote
Chillalex Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I've never watched any of the Hostels, but heard there some of the most gruesome movies made. Are they worth watching or is it just constant gore with a bad story? hostel films arent great first was ok but the second felt like a waste of my time. Saw films arent so bad, they make you cringe but thats sort of the point when they do the traps well, it gives them a very tangible quality that to me, is quite a nice feature. It's the same as going on a rollercoaster, imo, it's a type of self induced scare that you are cool with. Gore for the sake of gore is questionable still, I believe the cringeworthy term gore porn or torture porn phrase has been given to these types of films, in an attempt to make those who enjoy them feel dirty and wrong. Bit shit really. The ONE film I really couldn't stand, and won't watch again, was Eden Lake. Can't remember the gore parts (though its very violent) but the overall theme, grouding in reality, and oppressive atmosphere coupled with the depressive ending just wasn't nice, no redeeming points in that film at all. HATED IT. wasnt physically sick but its the nearest I've been, refuse to see it again. FUCK the Daily Mirror for saying it was good (oh wait, I wonder why they liked it.) Quote
Subrick Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 The ending of Hostel 2 makes my area hurt every time I watch it. :x Quote
Thom Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Not a horror, but Requiem for a Dream made me feel ill. Quote
