Heart Breaker Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Alright. I wanted to make this because I listen to new music constantly. I'm always searching for a new band, a new sound, something to catch my ears. Seems like with each month, I have at least one or two albums that I'm waiting for. That's what this discussion is for. To post what albums you're currently looking forward to and why. I have two at the moment, but I'm sure the list will continue to grow. 2009 has been a bit of slow year. Hopefully we'll see a lot of good releases by the years end. Cartel - Cycles Cartel is a band I've followed ever since I saw the music video for Honestly. I'm a sucker for pop-punk, and this band was played on my iPod for weeks to come after purchasing their album Chroma. The upcoming single that has my hopes up is Let's Go. A very cheesy song, lyrically, but it's nice to blast when you're driving in the car. I just hope this album lives up to my expectations since I hold their previous two in very high regard. The Almost - Monster, Monster The Almost is now releasing their sophomore album on November 3rd entitled Monster, Monster. These guys blend in an amazing amount of punk, hard, and alternative rock together. They're all over the place, which means you'll never be bored when listening to their first CD. After reading previews of the album through multiple media sources, it sounds like their second album will be no different. It's all about overcoming the monster we all have inside of us. I've heard two singles from the album thus far. Lonely Wheel and Hands. Besides the singing, you can't tell it's the same band. I'm definitely looking forward to this album more than any at the moment. I'm a huge fan of Aaron Gillespie, who also drums and sings for the band Underoath. So what albums are you currently waiting for, and why? Quote

Big Bizang Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Bought a few new albums for the first time in like months. Some are great some a tad on the disappointing side but I'd say they're all worth a punt if you fancy something new. As much as it sounds like hyperbole Frank Turner is, to my mind, the best lyricist working today. His music just sounds very important every time you hear it. Being the uber-fan I am I couldn't wait for this third album and it I have to say it's not what I expected. It's more a full band affair that reflects his current live shows a bit better but I have to say I preferred the solo, more personal affair. Not quite as good as Love, Ire and Song but still has some awesome tunes. Try - 'Poetry of the Deed', 'Our Lady of the Campfires', 'Sons of Liberty' Here's one for you HB. I reckon this will be right up your alley. I saw them support Turner last time I saw him and they're awesome live. Pleasantly, the energy translates well into recording too. Big sing-a-long pop punk, hardcore type affair. A lot of fun. Can't stop listening to this album Try - 'The Dream Team', Diamond Rings', 'There Are Times' Fiery Furnaces finally remembered how to write proper melodies again. Fucking took them long enough. Finally no more abandoning tunes 2 minutes into a track to make way for warbling played backwards and collapsing on pianos for 9 minutes. This is like how they used to sound in the beginning, great tunes but they still keep the weirdness that makes them stand out. More bluesy sound this time round which is always good. Try - 'The End is Near', 'Even in the Rain', 'Ray Bouvier' Hmmmmmmm. Just got this today and I can't say I'm a fan after the first listen. I completely fell in love with the last album The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me and music magazines are raving about this so maybe it's a grower but you know... hmmm. This is a heartbreaking one for me. Reuben were one of my favourite bands of all time before they went and broke up a couple of years ago. They were just one of the most intense British hardcore bands that still managed to maintain a sense of humour and look like they were actually enjoying themselves. Anyway this is a boxset of rarities, live tracks, videos etc to complete the fans' collections now they've gone. Haven't bought it yet but it should be worth it for Stux and Scared of the Police that were going for upwards of £50 on singles on Amazon. Quote
takersfan Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Im also very excited for Dr. Dre's Detox. It should be good. Quote
