The Don Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I've been dying to see Kid Rock for about 10 years now, I've had tickets to see him twice but the night before or night of the concert I'd get fucked and have no time to call an audible to see him. So when I herd he was coming to the State Fair I was pumped, Lynyrd Skynyrd (if you can even call them that anymore) opening was just the icing on the cake. The concert was last night and I FINALLY didn't get jewed at the last minute and made it. Lynyrd Skynyrd were okay, but they could have just done Give Me Back My Bullets, Gimmie Three Steps, Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird then called it a night. But that's besides the point. One the silhouette of him came up and the opening to Rock n Roll Jesus started EVERY GODDAMN PERSON got up, thankfully that blocked the wind, and I don't think anyone sat down the rest of the night. I was a little worried on the way he'd mostly do his newer stuff be he did a great job of doing a little bit of everything from all of his CDs (Devil Without a Cause to Rock n Roll Jesus, I didn't expect anything from the old days.) He even did a good job of working some covers in the middle of his songs, everyone from The Sones to "Everyday People." It was a legit sellout, you could look around when the lights were on an there wasn't an empty seat in the stand or on the ground. It was truly amazing hearing 13 thousand people singing All Summer Long! Other than him doing Bawitdaba as his encore the stand out part of the show was When he went over to the turntables to do some old school hip hop while pouring a drink and smoking a cigarette without missing a beat then went to guitar and finally back to the drums to finish the segment off with Cat Scratch Fever. It was truly an amazing night for me and something I will never forget seeing. I decided to cheak the newspaper's review of last night and surprisngly he didn't have anything bad to say, other than saying we were "the drinkingest, beer-spillingest, smokingest grandstand-goers in recent memory" but I consider that a compliment! phil Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Judging by your praise, it sounds like rebounded big time after his rather weak performance at 'Mania this year. Quote
Fozy Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Kid Rock sucks. Who sits down at a concert? Man you're lamers. Quote

The Don Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 No Sir, I don't think I will. That was the most horrible thing I've seen this side of Master P in WCW, Quote
