Aero Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 So, on the back of geting an Itouch 32gb i fel the need to download some extra music instead of living off spotify. in searching for some stuff, and with the realisation of rock band the beatles on its way... or out... i downloaded their entire back catalogue and i gotta say some of it is awesome. im not a huge fan of some of their singles, some are over played and some are good songs badly performed in my opinion. whilst the likes of norwegian wood always made me chuckle its not fantasic, but theres definately a few greats theat they've hid from the world by not relseasing as a single. 2 prime examples of 2 very different style of songs spring very much to mind at this point- 1. Because (abbey road album) - its great, short, very little to it, but the harmonies etc in it are just impressive, makes me take back my theory that the beatles where writers not singers to some extent. 2. rocky racoon (white album) - this shows diversity compared to alot of other stuff they do and its a fun song too, with a rolling story in it tho its pretty short too. for anyone unsure of the beatles but willing to give them a second chance, download some lesser known stuff, its good listening. 1 Quote
Smacktalks Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I downloaded the Beatles "Love" complication and found it really good listening to it on my ipod. It's pretty much all of the big singles though, so theres not much I haven't heard bits of before. I'll probably download the Abbey Road album to listen to first, any of the albums better to go for first? Quote
Aero Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 nah, personally i found abbey road the best, tho the white album is sweet too, i've not got through them all often enough to comment proprly, but so far those 2 stand out 1 Quote
Aero Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 so, after giving this more attention, i have came to the decision that the beatles where a bit foolish with the choices they made in reguards their singles. i could make you a greatest hits album of theirs... i.e my current play list, and very few of the songs on it would be found in any beatles greatest hits album or at the top of any of the charts, the beatles where evidently much more of an album band than a singles band which, in a way is great because if you like the singles you'll LOVE the albums, but in another way its sad because so many great songs have been either unheard by a younger generation, or looked over by older generations too.
