Smacktalks Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/editorial/windows7-preorder?camp_id=wk11_09_Windows7Preorder Microsoft have decided to offer anyone wanting to purchase Windows 7 on pre-release a discount of 50%, so if your planning on getting it it's well worth it. I've always just installed downloaded copies, been running Vista on here since it was released but I still cant get some updates, so i'll be going for this pre-release offer. I've only gone for dodgey copies in the past because of the price, but £90 for the professional versions good enough for me, might even go for the home version if theres not much difference. Edit: Looking at the differences I think i'll just go for the home edition. http://www.intowindows.com/difference-between-windows-7-home-premium-professional-ultimate-editions/ Quote
jitz Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I've been running the release candidate since MS released that, and it really is a good OS. It's Vista without the head fucks. So if you're still running XP because Vista is a nonsensical mess, then Windows 7 is probably a good point for you to upgrade. Getting it for half price is a great deal. Quote
Aero Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 i have no issues with vista and my version is perfectly legal, i've never paid for windows and lived off dodgy XP downloads for years, because i have a powerful enough pc to deal with vista and more importantly have no issues with it, i'll stick. my bro however has a netbook, and will run better on it that vista... hell the basic home will run better than XP does, so depedning on your scenario, its probably worth it, in my case, i'll hold off i think Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I changed from Vista to XP because of how glitchy and fucking frustrating it was to do the most simple thing. XP has alwyas been glitch free when I've used it. Quote
ALL STAR Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Only been using Vista in uni and on my laptop, never had any problems with it. Might upgrade i the future but i dont see the need at the moment. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Windows needs permission for you to press the start button. Quote
Joe =/ Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Windows needs permission for you to press the start button. Pre ordered from comet or currys - I forget which. Used the code "london20" for a couple quid off too. Quote
