Smacktalks Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Well HP/EDS asked all permanent staff if they would take a voluntary 2.5% pay cut to help the company through these hard times and in return you would get... a thank you. Well needless to say I turned it down, as did everyone else with any sign of life. As if anyone would give up 2.5% of their salary for nothing.. Anyway, today they realised nobody was dumb enough to take a voluntary pay cut so they've offered the option to work less hours at the same rate or take unpaid leave for a maximum of 6 months. As much as the 6 months off appealed to me, I decided to offer to work 4 days a week insead of 5 which imo is a pretty good deal. I'd wanted time off to work on other things, so a day off during the week is ideal (No football during the day to waste the time gambling either). It'll cost me £200ish per month, but it's only for the 3rd & 4th quarters of this financial year (Until April 1st) and the money I make via Betfair should easily cover the £200 less i'll get for only working 4 days. Although they haven't confirmed I can do it yet, what'd you think? Good move? Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 If you can afford it, then I don't see why not. Quote
Chillalex Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 living the dream! 4 day week would be jawesome Quote
Thom Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I'd definitely go for the 4 day week as opposed to 6 months off. Quote
