Smacktalks Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 I'd hold MJ above Elvis in most categories. MJ was the better singer imo. MJ introduced the music video. MJ was a far better dancer. MJ has the most sold album ever in Thriller. The only thing better from Elvis was he had an acting career in movies. Quote

Plus Elvis had sold some 250 million more records than Jackson, and had more number one hits. Quote
Big Bizang Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 One of his kids can say his dad is Michael Jackson and his grandad is Elvis. That's fucking epic. Quote
Thom Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 And he'll inherit his share of The Beatles' entire back catalogue. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Indeed. These kids are practically royalty. Quote
Nemo Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 ...maybe he's better off dead. Now he won't be a walking, talking joke... the same can be said about you. see how many people give a shit about your death, asshole. rest in peace, mj Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Uh oh, Don has lit the fire in Sal's belly. Quote
Thom Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Not that I agree with The Don's perpetually retarded point of view, in a way I think if he had to go, it was probably the best time for him. His creative peak was 25 years ago, there was nothing left for him to achieve, but his legendary status could easily have been tarnished if the 50 shows at the O2 hadn't been absolutely incredible and lived up to all the hype - Which let's face it, they almost certainly wouldn't. Even in for artists in their prime that's a tall order. I must point out that I'm talking in terms of Michael Jackson as an artist and public figure, obviously not as a father - No child should have to lose their father at such a young age, but if he'd lived long enough for his shows at the O2 to have bombed, people wouldn't be concentrating on the loss of a long-serving Father as much the loss of a shadow of his former self. In terms of a tribute, I'm not going to spew any tired superlatives. I'm a fan of his music, felt for him as a person lambasted by the media, and I hope that he is thought back on with respect and adulation. Quote
Jonny Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 In all respect, you shouldn't justify his untimely death on the reason that he passed his prime 25 years ago. He isn't a bloody race horse. Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Very sad. I remember whan I was just young and had an alvin and the chipmunks VHS with a Michael Jackson music video wit hthe fucking chipmunks on it. It was one of my favourite things to watch at the time. saying i will miss him is a stretch, as I hadn't heard anything about him since like last year, what I can say is that Michaels death marks the most significant death of a media icon in my lifetime. I will look back at him with nothing but fond memories and a feeling of awe when thinking of my earliy encounters with his music. Rest easy Jacko. You've done more in 50 then anyone else can do in 100. Quote
Jonny Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Hence the second part of what I said, yeah. I was speaking in general, not directed at you. Edited June 28, 2009 by Jonny Quote
Aero Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 lmao jonny, thom said about passing his prime 25 years ago, you then referenced the 25 years bit in your post, it was clearly directed at thom. by the by, to me michaels "prime" was when he was 5 through until probably HIStory which was 1995, 14 years ago... 1997's blood on the dance floor was also passable..... invincible (2001) was pretty shit tho Quote
Jonny Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Aye he did say about MJ passing his prime 25 years ago, but I'm sure alot of other people would say the same. He could never top Thriller. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Tom also didn't say he passed his prime 25 years ago. He said he reached his peak 25 years ago. That's a massive difference. Passing your prime connotates that he was no longer capable of releasing quality music. Past his peak means he was passed the height of his superstardom. The songs Jackson wrote in the 90s were best sellers and of amazing quality. Quote
Aero Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 true ming, but i was just trying to highlight that jonny was clearly referencing thoms post and then decided to claim he wasnt lol. Dangerous is probably my favorite album, whilst he has songs that are better, the albums in general feel more consistent... if that makes sense Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I wasn't talking about you Aero; I was talking about Jonny's reply to Thom and his subsequent ones. I agree with you completely that Jonny was obviously referencing Thom. Quote
Aero Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 oh i know, "i was speaking in general, not directed at you" lmao Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 THIS IS ONE GIANT MIND FUCK Jonny, you're an idiot. Quote
Sunny Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 R.I.P. Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009 Forever) Legends never die as he will be in our hearts. He was the best entertainer in our generation. Ironically, I was in L.A. when I died. I went there for vacation. Not to see his death at UCLA. I grew up listening to you and have always been a fan of your music. Moonwalk to heaven Mike. U left too soon. Quote
