Aero Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 yeah, so setanta are fucked for sure. payment on scottish prem contract also missed, sky seem to have bought the rights, they are also struggling to know if the can sponser the cross-boarder irish "setanta cup" this year and have requested the team draws be delayed, problem here is similar tho, they will be given a deadline and a new sponsor found as this will cost the likes of coleraine, linfield etc Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 (edited) Losing the SPL is like Sky losing the Bowls. Edited June 23, 2009 by RingMaster2001 Quote
Aero Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 thats a bit harsh and, judging by setanta's membership figures, quite inaccurate. setanta only had 1.2million subscribers....i wouldnt be suprised if 1/3 of them where in if for the SPL seriously. Quote
Fozy Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Yeah, a lot of scots had Setanta for the SPL here, I'm guessing a lot had it for Celtic/Rangers and old film matches too. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 You are being to harsh on the Bowls. Alot of old people get enjoyment out of it. And there are alot more old people than there are Scots. Anyway, my Uncle manages Coleraine FC. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) Indeed. And the Team Attendant (Damien Cooper) is my cousin! I obviously have a strong affinity with Coleraine and always look out for their scores. Alot of my family are from that area. Another little ditty, my Great Uncle was best mates with Harry Gregg (Munich Air disaster survivor, former Man Utd and Coleraine GK) and the last time I was in Norn Ireland, he put us up in his pub on Port Stewart front. Aero Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 ah class, what pub was that? i thought he owned the windsor hotel which, as the name suggests was more hotel than pub lol. limavady football team is too shit to support and derry is more of a gaelic city, so if i want to support my childhood local area, coleriane would be my best bet anyways lol Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 It was the Windsor, I was a bit brazen with the term pub, it just looked like a pub. Knew it was a hotel though for us all to get in it. His football shirts for Northern Ireland/Man Utd/Coleraine surrounded the bar. Quote
Aero Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 lol aye, the shirts are the only reason i knew he owned it! Quote
