Smacktalks Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Has anyone got any recomendations on good video editing apps I can try out? I have just been using Windows Movie Maker in the past, but since I've reinstalled Vista a few months ago I can't directly use any .mp4 files from my camera without first converting them to .avi, etc. I'm not fussed for software with spangly effects, etc. just something that has the basics and works with most video file types. I did try Googling this, but most results were dated back a few years and out of date. Quote
Jonny Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) Sony Vegas - This is my favourite out of them all. The one I use mostly and find the easiest to use. Adobe After Effects - This one is a little more complex to use, but with alot of features, bound to keep you busy for days. Adobe Premier Pro - I've tried this one before, it is a great prog, but not as good as the previous two. IMO. Avid Media Composer - I haven't used this one, but have heard good things about it. As far as converters go, get Total Video Converter. One of the best converting progs out and quite fast. Hope that does it. Edited May 21, 2009 by Jonny Quote
Elmnt254 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I'm pretty sure you can use photoshop to edit videos, but the only thing is you have to do it frame by frame... Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 Cheers Jonny, I did get Avid, but it seemed a bit over the top and just confused the hell out of me. I'll give Sony Vegas ago first and see what it's like. @Elmnt254, i've used Photoshop for some videos for effects (Also used Prem Pro), but this is more for putting together some videos for Youtube rather than effects. ALL STAR Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I would suggest premiere pro its nice and simple to use and gives great results, used it alot in college. Its worth looking at. Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 I've just tried out Vegas and it seems pretty good. The only downside is the icon overload across the top and not knowing what the buttons do without hovering over them. Anyway, I managed to put together a quick test of what I was wanting to do, just need to shoot some better quality vids now. Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Haven't really decided, was going to try out some Lost theories to get used to talking to the camera, etc. Looking to put a show together if I get into it, similar to the old Fantasy Football series that was on BBC in the 90's.
