Smacktalks Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 What did you think of the season finale? If you haven't seen it yet, it's on Sky One in the UK tonight. Jacob The last thing I was expecting to start the episode was Jacob, finally! It was really interesting to see him brought into the characters back stories, from what I made of it John Locke seemed to be dead from the window fall, yet Jacob brought him back to life. Then you have him save Sayid from getting run down, convince Hurley to go back to the island, etc. Do you think he actually knew this would lead to his death? He didn't seem too suprised to see Locke and Ben when they were going to kill him. Pherhaps he planned to have them kill him in order to change something? Maybe a sort of time loop? Changing the Past I thought that the Losties in the 70's had somewhat changed the future, as the Dharma signs were still on the barracks when Sun and Frank went there in 2007 a few episodes back, yet it doesn't appear that they've changed anything, as Locke points out to Ben that the Hatch door is behind, so everything that happened with the hatch still happened. Then you've got Jacob telling "Locke", "They're coming" as his dying words. Surely that would mean that when the bomb goes off it does indeed transport them back to 2007. So does this just mean that they'll return to the present, with the only change being the Dharma signs are still on the barracks? Juliet Apart from the huge fall that should've killed her, i've a slight feeling that she'll miracously survive and be transported back to the future with the rest. I did think she'd be underground though, like Locke when he fell down the well, but maybe all the Lostiesfrom the past will appear in the crater that was left from the Hatch implosion? Thoughts? jitz Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Yeah there's really no way to discuss Lost without talking major plot points, so if you haven't seen it, you should know to not be in here. If the bomb blows up the island, they've broken major time travel rules. How could the present day people be on the island when it would have been blown up in 1977? You can't create two concurrent time frames and let them play out for the purposes of telling your story. What they did in 1977 would have effected the present day. I doubt that's escaped the attention of the writers though, and they'll find some way to retcon it. Apart from that the Jacob thing and that other guy thing is looking good and finally brings in the "war" that Ben and Widmore have been talking about for seasons. Who's side is the right side? They certainly played Jacob to be a good guy in the finale, despite being the cause of much grief for the survivors pre-island. You could say that no one saw the Locke reveal coming; but in all fairness, when it's done with the character you didn't know existed, it takes away some of the the punch. All in all, best season of Lost yet. I can only think of one, maybe two bad episodes. Quote
Aero Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 whats the deal with the 2 john lockes tho? and what about jacobs "friend" from the start? i might watch it again cause im full of questions!!! or i'll keep asking things every time something gets answered!! there wasnt enough desmond for my liking, making it NOT the best series lol Quote
Spectre Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Well the theory is that the "loophole" loc and Jacob talked about before he killed him, is the same thing jacob and his friend were talking about in the beginning of the episode. So the alive loc is jacobs friend, who in turn could be the smoke monster since weve seen it turn into other human forms, and the dead loc is the real one. Also i thought it was interesting that when the episode ended they did the opposite of the other episodes end with, the Black background with white Letter, and insteated did white background with black lettering. that could mean a restart or reversal of things. and the last thing jacob said was "there coming" did he mean the 1977 surviors, or the other people on the flight. Damn shame we have to wait till next year, its going to be one hell of last season Quote
Aero Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 next year? surely it'll start again in like september.... thats a few months Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Nope, Febuary was what they mentioned on the Podcast. Although they did say that they had some things planned for Comic-Con, so hopefully there'll be a new ARG like the Find 815 ARG. I just hope whatever they do doesn't turn out to be non-cannon like the Pierre Chang & Daniel Farraday video from last years Comic-Con. Quote
Spectre Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Oh wow over here right after the finale it did an sorta preview and it was like"In 2010, the Final Season, Will Change everything". Something like that, it showed past clips and it ended with a close up of an eye opening, I think it was Jacks which was one of the first scenes in the series premier. Quote
Aero Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 so, what like, mayb it'll go back to the very start again, the plane crash, but with them knowing what will happen etc? that wont work, what about ur wee black dude :S Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 If it is indeed a time loop like the ones we've seen (e.g. The Compass), then the final scene could see a final flash where their all on the plane again and it crahses or you see Jack's eye opening to start it all over again. I just hope it doesn't end with them all in the airport boarding area, leaving you to make your own decision on whether they changed things and whether they'll crash or land in LA. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Jacob has obviously planned these whole events for hundreds of years, so that this "loophole" would fail after the explosion of the bomb - the island will revert to how it was and therefore Jacob would still be alive. I expect someone Malcolm McDowell-esque to have played Jacob. Quote
