Twist of Fate Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 So, short and sweet...I've got an LG Voyager and it randomly shuts down on me. For a short time after I got the phone, it would randomly shut down when scrolling thru text messages, but for about a week now, it has just been shutting down randomly. Anybody have any experience with this? Quote
Aero Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 none, however, does LG have a software update service, either via the phone or via software for the computer? if not, take it back and get it sent off under its repair for LG to upgrade the software. Quote
Twist of Fate Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 Eh, A buddy of mine told me to dial *228 (verizon update shit) and that didn't work out for me. I have insurance on the phone, but from what I've seen on the net, it's a fairly common problem with this particular phone, but the way the idiots on those forums were talking, I wanted to check on here and see what everyone thought. Also, apparently out of the three friends I have with this phone, they all have some sort of problem like this, but only one of them as severe. I wasn't sure I'd like a phone like this anyhow, (after all, I loved my old LG VX8300 flip phone), but felt the need to upgrade...Not sure I want to drop the money on a different phone model tho.. jitz Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 It's amazing how many phones these days have trouble doing the most simple thing - staying on. I don't think I've had a phone in the last 5 years that hasn't randomly shut down. Best advice is to do the ol' switch off and switch on every morning. Some phones just crash though, even straight after a restart. If it bugs you, take it back and say it's a piece of shit phone that randomly turns off. They'll believe you, no questions asked, the majority of phones do it. I don't know what they'll offer in return because you're in another country. In Australia, if you create enough of a scene, you can get a different phone. Creating a scene gets you everywhere in this world, fuck the sales people that go home telling their wife how much of a wanker you were; you got what you wanted. Quote
Aero Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 in the uk the rules are generally - new contracts- 14 day money back guarantee on any new contract (so if you hate it, cancel the contract ant take out a new 1 for a new phone) 28 day faulty exchange (9/10times for the same phone but fuss can be made and it sometimes works) 1 year warranty (tho if you get in touch with the manufacturer directly you usually get 2 years) upgrades- same but generally no 14 day change of mind, which is cock if you ask me. as for insurance, that means jack shit in this case for 2 reasons- 1. its clearly under warranty in this case 2. nearly ALL insurance on phones offers "like for like" so if you think "i'll flush this fucker down the toilet then get a new phone on my insurance... you'll get the same model phone again (unless they cant get 1 then its next closest thing... but they will get 1, they always get 1) Quote
