Smacktalks Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 5 Live had a discussion on after the United game last night with the focus of whether you would want to live forever or not. For me, i've always wanted to, but in a Doctor Who/Richard Alpert way in which you stop aging. So the full question, would you like to live forever if you were to keep aging? I think I would want to, but in the hope that if I knew I couldn't die that in time there would be a way to reverse aging or become a bionic man with artifcial sight, etc. If I was to live for 100's of years in the physique of a 100+ year old I dont think I would want to. Thoughts? Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Whilst I watch everyone I love die? No thank you. Plus, the boredom factor would kick in. 85 would do me. Quote
Aero Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 can you see bionic age reversal technology being widely available by the time you are in 100-130? lmao if you kept aging, i'd rather die, have you seen old people? who the fuck wants to be 1 of them only much older. fuck, by the time ur 200 you'd probably be a vegetable even if you where fit and healthy ur whole life Quote
Smacktalks Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 I was thinking more coma for a few hundreds years, then woken up and given a nice new bionic body. Sorted! Edit: Just seen this on Geekologie, now i'm thinking of a coma in this! Quote
Aero Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 you want to be comatose in a vibrator? mayb you just want to me in futurama? to me the purpose of living for ever is watching the world evolve, i fucking hated history at school, wouldnt want to have to read up on all these shitty iraq wars etc again.. or watch "retro movies" such as iron man 3 on a shitty dvd on a well out of date LCD screen Quote
Smacktalks Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 You could catch up on history, films, sports, etc. in seconds Fifth Element style! ...you'd still be waiting for a Premiership win though. Quote
Aero Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 why? would they put this season on hold til i came to again? Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 No, I get sick of living sometimes now, imagine in 150 , or even 50 years. I would rather take a normal life span. Quote
crunk Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 hahahaha. Why not live forever.. not like there's anything else to do. Quote
Aero Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 i'd happily live forever if indeed i did stay young/regenerate, but if you aged like paul suggests, you'd be an invalid and ppl would have to look after you at some stage... forever. you'd be nothing short of a pointless waste of resources. Quote
The Smackethdown Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 but you could spread knowledge to the youth, you can tell them about VCRs,Betamax, cassette players and even dial up internet. Quote
The Smackethdown Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I'm sure they'd want to know how life was before the 'Chrome-Age' hits. Quote
Aero Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 they have the internet.... it'll be faster then, they will know... mayb they will have info things that make you learn all this crap instantly Quote
phil Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 They shall have microchips in their tongues, allowing them to talk to their friends and family and go onto the internet! Quote
Smacktalks Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 I call microchips in tongues that translate your mouth movements to then speak the words you mouth in another language! Quote
System of a Daan Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I wonder how much BJ's will improve with microchips in tongues... Quote
phil Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 It may be the former and not the latter, Aero. Quote
