Agnostic is only a statement that a person feels a higher being cannot be proved or disproved. You'll find many, many people who believe in religions are actually agnostic. They believe in the ideology of the religion, but take the stance that the actual being being worshipped can't be proven to exist (a fair statement regarding all religions involving higher beings).

You can be agnostic and follow a religion, you can be agnostic and not follow a religion.

Hell even an atheist by definition is a person who doesn't believe in the existence of deities higher beings. Things is, there's plenty of religions that focus on you spirit, and don't worship anybody (Buddhism). So even athesists can be in a religion.

Me I'm the bad kind of atheist, the kind that tries to tell religist types that they're insane, and wasting their lives following control methods thought up thousands of years ago. Really in today's modern society, if you're religious (especially one that believes in a god), you're a fucking idiot.

technically i'm presybeterian which is a form or protestant (a pure prod, not 1 of those church of england half breed prods HAHAHA) which is, as im sure you all know, part of christianity.

i say technically because i'm all but done with the whole god thing, but i was brought up by christians so i know the ins and outs.

on a side note, i hate catholic/protestant fights as we both follow the same basic belief, big fucking deal if we carry it out in different ways, i know there is more to it that that if you dig deeper, but most of the people who get into these fights dont go that deep, if indeed there is a correct religion and its christianity, wouldnt both catholics and protestants go to heaven? and i bet you anything it'd not be the 1s fighting about cats bein better than prods etc.

I'm a Catholic, but I don't bother going to church whatsoever, so meh. Got a really strong disdain for young Earth creationism and fundies and sympathize with the agnostic community.

I'm one of those "just in case" Christians. I've had some doubts but I'm pretty certain there is a higher power out there somewhere whether physically or not and that I have no idea who or what it is and Christianity seems like the safest bet.

Plus I was raised Christian, that probably has something to do with it.

I believe in god or some god like being, but i've never really gave it any real thought. I guess I would give it more thought if I had a reason to turn to religion, such as a family tragedy, etc. but in everyday life I just believe in Karma, i.e. You only get what you give.

as for me, i was born and raised catholic. nowadays, i basically pick and choose what i want to believe in without the bullshit that goes into it all. no animals are sacred and im not going to feel bad about fapping. if god is petty enough to send me to hell for playing with my pecker, then so be it.

a lot of you (except jitz) dont come off as assholes on the subject and thats great. i think it's a shame that it takes just 1 suicide bomber to give a religion thats thousands of years old a bad rap. similarly, all you need is one crazy leader to impose his own beliefs on citizens for people to totally forget what religion is all about.

which is to keep humans in line. why? because we're fucking savages. before religion came around, all we had was an eye for an eye. good in theory until you have an angry mob looking to chop your cock off for kicking that jerk down the street in the nads.

nevertheless, a lot of atheists who condemn religion forget that religion is what gave us our sense of right and wrong. they think that we dont do certain things (like stealing... or porking the neighbors wife) because common sense tells us it's a dick thing to do. well, it doesnt. we have morals that were passed down to us generation after generation starting with our ancestors who had faith... or were at least scared that god would fucking smite them for porking the neighbors wife.

if that isnt enough, keep in mind that our countries were founded by the religious. without god, where would we get our "god given rights" from? remember those? you dont even have to believe in god to have them. pretty sweet deal, isnt it? sure theres some shit laws out there, but not all of them are bad. im particularly fond of the ones that make murder illegal. oh, and sodomy. that too.
