The entire point of unmasking him is to show that he's just an aging, unattractive, scarred man. He's so unhappy with his abuse riddled everday life, so he wears the mask, and after time came to resent himself without the mask. Which is why, when asking for his mask back, he actually asks for his "face". So when you're unimpressed with his physical appearance without the mask, you can actually sympathise with him because HE IS UNATTRACTIVE.

EDIT - Oh and I don't see him being unmasked as a spoiler, it's like being shocked to find out Batman is Bruce Wayne, or Spiderman is Peter Parker. It's safe to assume that at some point during the movie you would find out who he is, as it's the only Watchmen story.

I loved the movie i know a little about the graphic novel 3rd of the way through. The movie was top notch though really like the Comedian he was played very well. It one of those films i enjoyed from start to finish nothing knocked the flow of the film.

until at the very end, he wasn't willing to compromise his very way of life in favor of an extremely controversial and unethical method of saving people that relied on chance. Also, Doctor M is a nihilistic cunt who should be beaten with an oar for killing Rorschach.

it was kinda obvious to me who rorschach was early on, i didnt have a problem with it being him and, ugly yes, but never the less pretty cool character mask or not.

The reason for the ink blots shifting is beause the mask was (according to the comic) made from a special material with black and white liquids inside the cloth being able to shift around but never touch. The mask is also a reference to the Rorschach ink blot tests. Oh, and eat a dick WrestlingFan24.

Dr Manahattan is an existential being, he is confused by humanity and the world they live in. He feels he no longer belongs in it; so why would he wear their clothes in private? He's attained godlike powers beyond anyone's imagination, he can now bend mattern to his will and see into his own future, he's become a god. His story has him taking this godlike status and examining the world for what it really is, without human emotion or compassion. He's above humans, the universe is now his oyster, why the fuck would you wear pants!? So yes, IT IS THERE FOR PLOT DEVELOPMENT.

The only times he wears pants is for a TV interview, which would have been require by the television network, and when he fought in the war, he probably didn't want to cop a missle up the willy.

This shit was all explained, you only need to use your brain a little to connect the dots.

Rorshach moving ink blotches weren't explained in the movie, but while wearing the mask he took on a persona of mystery, and the mask was the essence of that. To explain why the ink blotches move would have taken away from it and de-powered him completely as a character. This choice is working because you are asking, how, if they had not actual super powers (except for Dr Manhattan), do the ink blotches move? Mystery.

The comics may have explained it, but I'm with Zack Snyder in thinking, that's lame, it's better off not explained.

They did do a lot of upperbody shots, but how do you propose they do group shots? When it was just one on one with say Silk Spectre, they did use a lot of upper body shots. When they had three people in the room all talking, and they had to create the space of the room and show the group existing in it, yeah they had to show cock, it's unavoidable. Most cock scenes were group scenes.

There were a couple of times when they showed a full body shot of Doctor Manahttan by himself, after the conversation with Silk Spectre before the tv interview for example. It's a character moment where he's lost his connection to the world, losing his last thread of humanity.

In those movies where the actress doesn't want to get her tits out, or show her vagina. Don't they always feel forced to you? Like they're lying in bed but she's holding the covers over her tits, who does that? The scenes lose a lot of emotion because the director can't show the drama taking place with body language, because he's restricted to showing essentially a head and neck. They're more preoccupied with covering up, then acting out the scene.

The only way to show Dr Manhattan go from weakness to complete power is to show his entire body, and the body language he uses.
