There's a lot of talking, there's a bit of fighting, and there's even a fair amount of time taken out just to show you things are unimportant and sometimes even completely irrelevant. If you stop paying attention during an important conversation and miss a crucial plot point, you can and probably will get lost. There's also a fair chance though, that you will zone out and miss nothing at all. It's really zone out at your own risk. Thankfully though, it's two hours and forty minutes of awesomeness. I'm not overly familiar with the comics, I'd heard of them before, but it's not really something that lands in your lap. This story however is top notch, the backstories are excellent, the main story is excellent, and the subplots do a great job of filling in gaps that really didn't need to be filled, but they're nice anyway. The characters, while for the most part are generic as superheroes go, really have personality and character. It's also clearly beneficial to the story that they are all original characters, because this world really is written for them, and they fit so well into it and the story happening in it. The fight scenes are the best seen in a comic book movie yet. Zack Snyder took what he did on 300, subdued it to fit into this realistic world, and compacted it to allow for an actual plot this time around. I think he does the best action scenes in movies today. He doesn't give in to the quick cut editing, where they chop and change camera angles 5 times a second so you have no idea what's going on or where you are. He just holds the shot and lets the action taking place take center stage. The quality of the choregraphy and the CGI is on show, and it's brilliant. Lastly I want to make mention of the soundtrack, it's the best I've heard for years. It adds to the movie so much. So great plot, great characters, great dialogue, great fight scenes, and great audio. Yes this is a recommendation. With the video game prequel and the animated retelling of the Tales of the Black Freighter story, there's a bit more Watchmen to enjoy too. Quote

It tries your patience, but the reward you get from investing in those tangents, the back stories, the side stories, and the meaningless conversations that are simply put in there to make these characters real, the reward is great. When you finally get to the end of the movie and the understand the characters, the motives behind the good, the evil and the inbetween actions that take place, you actually feel for these characters. Like I said, it's a big mental investment, and not really a movie you'll watch a lot because it demands so much of you. It's certainly not a summer popcorn movie. If you lose yourself in their world though, it's a brilliant movie. Quote

WrestlingFan24 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 oh my god I just got back from seeing this and it is the worst superhero movie I have ever seen (not counting parodies or anything like that) the fight scenes were the best part about the movie, most of the movie was flashbacks that aren't really that crucial to the plot line, the acting was ok not bad but nothing special, alot of the story was kinda pointless imo, I mean don't get me wrong there were some good parts in the movie but imo the good in this movie just doesn't out weigh the bad.
