Tenacious D

So obviously all of you know or heard of the movie Tenacious D and the Pick Of Destiny.

I heard somewhere that Tenacious D was an actual band before the movie was even made. But every time i do research and try and find original music by Tenacious D and NOT the soundrack to the movie The Pick Of Destiny, i hear Jack Black as the singer....

So i ask, Was Tenacious D an actual famous band before the movie was made, and that Jack Black was the singer of the band? Im guessing Jack Black was still an acter while in the band or he was a singer before acting or something?

If this is true, someone please direct me to ORIGINAL music by Tenacious D and not the soundtrack to the movie.

lmao this has to be a joke... how can you not have heard the song "tribute"?

anyways, kyle gas and jack black have been acting and singing together for YEARS, then in like 2001 or something the released an actual album with some awesome tracks on it, they've also had a weird tv show and then made the movie, meanwhile still acting away. kyle gas plays small roles in alot of jacks films still.

The first time I seen it I thought it was going to be a musical film, jusing by the start, which was a bad thing. I think i'd of liked it even more.
