CanaMatt Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Alex my brother is going to the art institue of vancouver this year for 3d modelling, can I send you some of his stuff sometime and get some opinions for him? Your work is fabulous, and I think it could be beneficial for him(he's hopefully going to be the successful one in the Gray family). Quote
Chillalex Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Canada is the place to go! not if you live there. Nah, Canada is on my hitlist after ive done the UK. Matt, sure. If you get him touch with me via my website contact (the email account I check most often) I'd be more than happy to help him with anything he wants. Vancouver is a great place though, for games companies. High density. If he's looking to get in to the games industry as well then I can help him with advice I was given a while back too (which worked out.) I'm moving tomorrow though, and after that my internet access is limited (10 minutes a day at most, maybe during my lunch hour.) Quote

A old mate tryed out at EA UK and the only reason he did get a job was hes lack of finalising texture skills, hes modeling though surpassed that of people who worked there, he could could do twice as much in the time frame the guys had... Job is at Rocksteady Studios (London), working on Batman: Arkham Asylum. Interestingly I was recently offered an interview in Kent : P I failed the art test but vacancys came up. I since boosted the art test to what I, for some reason, didnt submit. Submitted: Spent an extra night and got: Didnt try EA and er, probably wont for a while. Cant say much any more, oh the joys of contracts. Epic I want to try eventually, but its in US and they DEFINITELY favour people with industry experience. That, and the Epic guys are like about 10 times better than me, bare minimum. Yeah as far as outside Uk jobs go, its not that easy. Inside the EU isnt bad, but for the US, its now incredibly hard to get in and the visa I'd need to go via is not very nice at all (basically, little chance of promotion, and if I lost the job I'd need to move out the country in 10 days.) takersfan Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Last time i went to vancouver i think they had an EA building there. Could be the place if u decide to choose somewhere in Canada. Quote
