Joe =/ Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I guess alot of you have svr09 by now. I didn't pre-order it for once, so I'm wondering whether to buy it on monday. How is it compared to the last game ? Oh and errrr, is the story mode online co-op , or am i imagining that ? Quote
Aero Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 i'm gonna go trade in GTA4 for it after my tea, figured might as well trade in a game i dont play for it cos i dont wanna spend Quote

Joe =/ Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 lmao, what has g-unit got to do with saints row ? I don't get it man, THIS AINT BALLIN ! Quote
ALL STAR Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Been playing it for a couple of hours its much better than 08, the gameplay dunno how but it just works and plays alot smoother. Caw is great improved over last year, plenty of new parts plus they look closer to the ingame wreslters now. The only thing im a little disspointed about is CAF its good but it needs some additions. The one thing that really makes the game great is rtwm i think its the best season mode in the smackdown series its presented like the tv show with JR and King talking and ring side while the pryro goes off to open the show. As far as online play goes i havnt tried it still dont have gold, but if they fixed the issues in 08 should be alright. Quote
The Smackethdown Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 lmao, what has g-unit got to do with saints row ? I don't get it man, THIS AINT BALLIN ! I was wondering the same thing. Quote
Smacktalks Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I've only played the PSP version, but the RTWM mode is great even on the PSP. It might only be short, but having character specific storylines for certain superstars is way better than the boring, repetitive season mode that has been in place for the last few years. Quote
seanironmaiden Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 as most of you imagined.. people online with ridiculous looking CAFS are really annoying... Quote
Aero Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 theres always the possibility of dlc for new RtWM too... come onnnnnnnn HBK story... Quote
seanironmaiden Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 woah.... no way. PLayin a match in WTWM and Edge jumps the crowd barrier to interfere in my match. Ref calls for the DQ, the bell is ringing but the beating continues with you controlling it... Quote

freezer250 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Just had my first match on SvR09: Triple H vs Kendrick , Falls Count Anywhere and really had some fun. The control is the same as in SvR08 so I had no problems beating the crap out of Kendrick. I like the moveset on Triple H and think its a good one. Beside the neckbreacker counter, he has a new ground leg move (beside Figure 4 Leglock and Stomp on the ground) and a top rope neckbreaker move that suits him perfectly - there may be more. When I used the backbreaker on Kendrick, Michael Cole said something like " What a beautiful backbreaker!" or something like that - so it seems like the commentators are analyzing the moves you use and commenting on them. Really like that idea and think it's better than the repeating "What an Impact!!!!!" shouts for all moves... Here are some other positive things: Loading times are short, current match statistitcs of your wrestler appearing on the loading screen, you can edit and update the crowd reaction for all superstars (like changing Big Show to unfair), changing the menu music with single click.... One thing I don't like is that after pedigreeing Kendrick through the announcer table (with Kendrick being red) he went back to his feet pretty fast. I remember the oppenents staying on the ground far longer in SvR08, which was way more realistic I think. This might lead to some problems in matches like Triple Threats. You can't focus on one oppenent cause the other one will be back on his feet. This was my first impression though and maybe there is a setting in option menu to change this. So far I think this game is a lot better than SvR08, though I haven't checked out storymode yet, but everything is better than SvR08 storymode Quote
Joe =/ Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Thanks Freezer. I personally thought in 08 the length of time peopole stayed on the ground after even basic moves (when they are red) was stupidly long, so i'm quite pleased to hear that has changed ... I've put spoiler tags around Sean's post to avoid anyone else reading it. Sounds cool what he said though. Quote
Sunny Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Thanks for the info freezer250. Much appreciated. To all those who have the game, please tell me if the annoying camera angle outside of the ring can be turned off. I really hate it as I couldn't focus onto my opponent and it seemed rather pointless. U can hardly see if Triple H performed the Pedigree on the announcer's table or not. Also, for those who have it on the PS3 version, do confirm if it contains 37 layers. Just put design after design until u've reached the layer limit. :tired just trying to be optimistic even though it was said it contains 37 layers. Thanks. Quote
freezer250 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) The camera angle outside is really annoying I tried to find an option to disable it but no luck so far. :2 I started a new Career with Kane and this game mode seems a bit boring to me. I spent the last hour just fighting an oppenent from a list to get enough points to challenge the Intercontinetal champion. After I got the belt - the same thing for the US Championship. No cutscenes or story whatsoever. But I suspect I have to play another game mode (there are some more) to get that Oh and I just played around with the new Create a Finisher mode. You can make completely new finishers or enhance existing one. I just built a more complex Pedigree Move - means I put an attack beforehand (kick to gut) + Piledriver movement (setting up for the pedigree) + some taunting (Cutthroat) + Pedigree itself --> looks badass ! I just tried to built a Goldberg Jackhammer and got it in 5 minutes - looks good! This mode will be very handy for new CAWs. Good job THQ! Create-A-Moveset is looking good too (Tag Team finishers yay): I think the thing with the affected body parts being displayed here is new, isn't it? So far SvR09 > SvR08 (But camera angle outside of ring sucks!) EDIT: Just saw it: NEW RKO and Kick to Head finisher for Orton and also new Chokeslam animation for Kane - finally! Edited November 8, 2008 by freezer250 Quote
Smacktalks Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 I think your right freezer, never noticed the affected body parts in '08. I picked it up this morning, but i've only had one match so far. I played an Inferno match with Jeff vs. Edge and left the default controls on this year, as I usually revert them to the old settings. So far i'm impressed, it's really easy to pickup and play and it feels a lot smoother than in previous years. Gonna have a good play of it after the United-Arsenal game. Quote
Big Bizang Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Just bought the game and a 360(!) today. Really enjoying it. Seems like it has more stuff to do from the outset. Blasted through RTWM with Punk and I'm working through career with my created guy. Little disappointed by Create A Finisher I think I was expecting too much. Gameplay is so smooth and just a ton more fun than last year's offering. Thumbs up guys, thumbs up. Quote
seanironmaiden Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 yea, transitions into moves are animated a lot better. there's even a cool feature that when you're facing away from your opponent and press attack, you hit them with an spinning elbow, instead of just turning around and doing your regular animation. the new targeting system is awesome too and makes handicap matches so much fun to play Quote
