Sunny Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Nope, they bullshitted us in that video not posted a long time ago.
Subrick Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 They did the same thing with Monster's Ball.
Smacktalks Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Only Match Types are: Standard Match (1v1) Tag Team Free for all Ultimate X (1v1) Ultimate X FFA (3-Way) Submission Falls Count Anywhere (1v1) Falls Count Anywhere Tag Handicap (1v2)
Subrick Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Now my question: is there any blood in this game at all?
bigpoppn Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Take Rick's question and add the following : Is the game as a whole any good?I know there aren't a lot of match types (like Paul posted) but the gameplay looks pretty sweet...Is it worth spending 65 euros?
ALL STAR Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 How do i put it into words, the game is fucking awesome its lacking in some areas but its worth picking up best wrestling game ive played. Been playing online even though its 1v1 its still very good.
Sunny Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Yeah, I'll definitely be picking it up this weekend. I know there may be a lot of people complaining about the game's features but the whole reason everyone needs to buy it is for a change from the SVR scenery.
Joe =/ Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Gameplay: Better than i imagined, fucking great. Sound: Fantastic Online: Very dodgy, kicking out is almost impossible, they HAVE to fix this. However ultimate X online is the greatest thing since sliced bread, it's better than any of SVR's gimmick matches. There IS a lack of moves but it's not really a problem, there's lots of reversals to do (which are great by the way) so that makes up for some of the lack of moves ... The controls take alot of getting used to as they are quite hard to master, just like AJ and Joe kept saying. Unless you get to grips with the controls you will be doing the same move over and over again, and more likely than not will get reversed the majority of the time. May I just also point out that I was at one point today rank 4th in the world. Yes I am THAT damn good baby, 14 win streak and it's still not ended, bitches ! The story mode is one million times better than smackdowns, but that's hardly an achievement lol. So errrr yeah, overall the game is very enjoyable, the gameplay is spot on and the collision detection is leaps and bounds better than SVR's. If they fix the bugs (impossible kickouts online, being able to use chair all the time online and offline) then it will be brilliant. It's a fantastic effort at a first game in the series and I cannot wait for the sequel, the thought of ladder matches, larger move sets and tables makes me a happy gamer.
d-Block Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 It reminds me a lot of the first few SmackDown! games, that's a good thing. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed myself this much with a wrestling game. There have been a few reversals where I actually said "wow." The animations are the biggest star of the game, they are heads and shoulders above SvR's. The next game will dethrone SvR as the top wrestling game. Six Sides of Steel, more moves, more wrestlers and hopefully a branching story line. I just can't wait.
Joe =/ Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Yeah, I couldn't agree more - if anything this first game has made me hugely anticipate the future releases. Matt and I are planning on recording some videos of gameplay to show what it is capable of (collision detection etc). I can't believe how awesome the reversals are, I was having a match with matt and we managed to somehow put a sequence of FOUR reversals together, and it looked freakin sweet. I also think they've sort of nailed the submission system, it basically boils down to who can keep their cool and hit the button combos fast enough. We discovered that it takes about 4 or 5 sucessful submission moves to make someone tap, and that is NOT easy to do, but also not impossible. Much better than SVR's shitty system of wiggling the stick hoping you wont tap when deep down you know it's just fucking automatic. I agree with some of gamespots review, i think they might need to consider changing the grapling system, wouldn't it be cooler if Y (standing still) and Y with a direction does the standard weaker moves, and LB + Y did a strong lockup, but then use the D-Pad or Analogue stick to execute the different moves (up down left right diagonals). Finishers should be reversable but it should be harder to reverse than SVR's system (right trigger and left trigger together). As for gamespots review, I thought it was good until they started bashing the ultimate X match. Can't remember exactly what they said, but I think they implied it wasn't exciting and grabbing the X with that mini game was an anti-climax. What the fuck did they expect to happen when you reach the X ? Jump inside your TV and grab it yourself ? Idiots. They also said it wasn't exciting enough because all the action took part on the ropes, hahaha bullshit. If you climb the ropes and your opponent is below you, you are almost guaranteed to come crashing down. The only way to have a decent chance of winning is beat the shit out of your opponent down on the mat until he is STUNNED, that's when you're suppose to attempt to make your way to the X. I swear these reviewers suck at the game and have hardly played it. Oh shit I have typed alot, I shall stop now. Errrrr yeah, TNA kicks ass ! Paul's CAW's kick ass ! I kick ass ! Bring on TNA Impact 2 !
bigpoppn Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I'm definately buying this now, even though it'll cost me a lot of money. From what I hear here it's well worth it.
Joe =/ Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 At the end of the day this game seems like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. I'm glad I love it.
