CS Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 from mmajunkie: After a very public split with the organization back in October, reigning UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture has agreed to return to the UFC, and he'll meet Brock Lesnar in a UFC 91 championship bout with Brock Lesnar. UFC President Dana White today confirmed the news in a media conference call. White also confirmed that UFC 91 will take place Nov. 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas -- not at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Ore., as first expected. As part of Couture's return to competition, which includes a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, White confirmed that their ongoing legal battle has been resolved. Couture resigned from the organization in October citing a lack of respect from UFC executives, issues over his pay, and the UFC's inability to sign then-free agent Fedor Emelianenko. "I think some compromises were made on both sides," Couture said. "All I give a [expletive] about is that he's back and fighting," White said. White also confirmed that the winner of an upcoming fight between interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir will meet the Couture vs. Lesnar winner sometime in 2009 to unify the titles. Well that was unexpected. I can't fucking wait for this fight, it might not be the most entertaining fight ever but the buildup to this fight will be great. Brock has the opportunity of a lifetime in this fight and its really a win win situation because even if Lesnar loses he's still going to be able to throw Randy all around the cage just because of his strength and size and if he wins he'll be the new face of the UFC. It's not like he doesn't have the look and with a win over Randy Couture after only 3 mma fights who could say otherwise. Quote
The Don Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I just read about this, I can't fucking wait. It'll be great to see Randy back and it will be interesting if Brock will just try and overpower him (smart money says he will) or actually try and grapple with Randy. It's going to be too good of a fight, I can't bet on either one to be honest. I want to see Randy show why he's the man, schooling Brock like he did Tito and Sylvia. But I also want to see Brock come out and go apeshit. If Brock's going to win it'll be in the first or second round, round three will be gut check, four and five will be Randy's. Quote
phil Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 This does seem to be an awesome fight. Courture is making his impressive second coming and against none other than Brock. I'm looking forward to this. Quote
The Don Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Won't this be Randy's third or fourth "Second coming"? Yeah I tried to make that the least gay as possible... Quote
Nemo Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 couture will only win this fight if he can take lesnar down and dry hump him for 5 rounds. not happening. Quote
phil Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Won't this be Randy's third or fourth "Second coming"? Third, if memory serves. Quote
