manDude Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Every one wants it, and I was wondering if there was and news on it. After reading Dark Knight Returns, I think this would be an excellent ending to the series, if you can call it that. Thoughts? Quote
jitz Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Errr, wouldn't it be Batman Begins 3? Or Batman 3? Certainly not Dark Knight 2. The studio has already said they've made an offer to Christopher Nolan for another sequel, they're waiting to hear back from him. That can take awhile, the more money The Dark Knight continues to make, including ticket sales, merchandise and the money raking DVD sales, the more money he can ask for. So Nolan will wait this one out for about a year I reckon, then he'll sign a contract for mega bucks. Quote
takersfan Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I hears its coming out in 2011 or something later. I hope they get an intersting villain and once again not add robin. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 The Riddler and The Penguin would do fine. Quote
jitz Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I don't think he had a choice but to add Robin. It's a greatly debated subject, about what he adds as a character in the movies, but as with Batman Forever, I think he's the only place the series can go from here. For a Batman movie, you won't get any better than The Dark Knight, it's simple as that. Where could they take the next movie from there solely with Batman? Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are very similar films, making a third one would just be stale, they'd be nothing new. It's why Robin was created in the first place; Batman is great, but he needs responsiblity. As shown at the end of The Dark Knight, Batman threw all responsibilty away. There's nowhere else to go from here, but to bring Robin in. I think most people have a sour taste on Robin as the only movies he appeared in where the two Joel Schumacher movies, and they're not really anything to judge the Batman universe by. Robin's backstory is every bit as violent as Batman's, except Robin turned it into vengeance, and Batman went for justice. That story is actually interesting if told right. Joel Schumacher in Batman Forever however just played him out as a rebel who rode motorcycles; a total waste. So yeah, I'd guarantee Robin to be in the third. I'd also guarantee it to be Christopher Nolan's last Batman movie. Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 If it's Christopher Nolan's last movie, I don't want anymore. Joel Schumacher after Tim Burton being my example. Robin wouldn't be disastrous. He is a good character if done right, and done as dark and thoughtfully done as Batman. I agree, Batman needs responsibility, and I wouldn't be suprised if this next film is set a few years after. He has been young in the first 2, we've seen that side, now to show him comfortable and older in the role. Like the Joker, the Riddler can be done to begin with without a hint of his previous history as Edward Nigma, but it is explored later in the film. The Penguin can be what he is suppose to be, a deformed billionaire who is jealous of Bruce Wayne. The Riddler and Penguin could easily link up in the story from this. It's a shame Ledger died really. Not killing off the Joker meant they had something else in mind for him. Quote
Aero Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 i heard a rumour that bale has it in his contract that he can refuse to do any more movies if robin is added to the mix, provided he reads the script etc 1st. as such, i predict nightwing will be added to it instead lmao Quote
ALL STAR Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Nolan has already mention the penguin wont be a villian cant remember the reason why, also Bale hates Robin and i dont think Nolan likes Robin that much either. The thing with adding robin though well the way i see it Batman is always better when he is the lone hero. If they do make a thrid film its going to be Riddler i can see it as him working for the police as the police would still be hunting Batman. Also i could see Bane being added as he would show that Batman can be hurt and broken physically Alfred mentions something to wane about it. Quote
takersfan Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 The riddler and penguin were done before. Id would be ok but id just like some one new. Clay face maybe? Quote
CS Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 It really is too bad Ledger died because of how much better the story could have been if they had added in Robin when The Joker was still the villain. I had this drunken batman comics obsessed guy tell me about how the joker has killed something like 2 of the 6 robins and how he killed a 14 year old robin by strapping a bomb to him and throwing him at batman, that would've been insane to see the Ledger joker do that. As for the next villain I'd like to see Zsasz or Black Mask, Zsasz has already been introduced in the first as an inmate in the insane asylum in Batman Begins and his character could fit more easily into the style of movies Nolan has made than say Killer Croc or Clayface. Black Mask on the other hand can bring something different to the series seeing as he has a grudge with Bruce Wayne and not Batman and the fact that I'd love to see what Nolan could do with his character. Oh and I heard they were approaching Johnny Depp to play The Riddler in the next movie. Quote
Spectre Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Warner Bros said if they use Riddler as a villian they want to try and get Johnny Depp to play him. I think that be a good move for him, i see depp being the Riddler type. I think Philip Seymour Hoffman was also wanted to play Penguin. I think i saw this on Yahoo. Quote
Big Bizang Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Nolan has already stated that he will not put Robin in his Batman films. Also Bale, Freeman and Caine have all signed on to do a trilogy of films for Nolan when they signed the contract for Batman Begins. So that's good. Joker killed the second Robin (Jason Todd) by beating him to death with a crowbar which is why Joker went to town on Batman with a crowbar in Dark Knight, as a bit of a nod towards that famous death. Is there any truth to the ugly rumour that Cher had been cast as Catwoman for the next film? I know Nolan has made some odd choices that turned out to be dynamite but Cher? That can't be right. Catwoman has to be put in the next film if not just to undo the last incarnation. Batman needs a Catwoman, in the comics they pretty much defined sexual tension, Nolan could pull it off like a genius. All the villans have to be pretty realistic for Nolanverse so don't expect Mr Freeze or Poison Ivy (thank christ). Still unsure whether or not Riddler would work, he's always been an atrocious bad guy. Quote
Aero Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 i dunno, at the time, for what it was, jim carey did a great job, however that movie is wildly dated now and as such he's went from seeming pretty good, to him looking like a fool in it. also, all his riddles were pointless in it. anyways, dark and myserious seems to be what we all like at the minute, why not just make all his riddles really really sinister, a crazy oddball like the joker, who is really twisted, someone like jonny depp could be great, but i'd like to see another choice like heath, he had to withstand alot of abuse when he was cast then held 2 fingers up to all his bashers with THAT performance. another choice like that, provided it pays off, would be great. cher shouldnt be allowed on tv any more. Quote
manDude Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 I was thinking that since The Dark Knight Returns is set about 10 years after The Dark Knight, they wouldnt need Heath Ledger to play joker. I was thinking Mark Hamill could lay the joker pretty good. seeing as he gets killed halfway through Quote
takersfan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Jim carrey did a pretty good riddler. Only if batman had better villains.... I always thought marvel had better villains and heroes. Quote
phil Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 The Dark Knight is easily THEE most perfect comic movie ever released. Why would a sequel be needed? Nolan's Batman series should stop at TDK, especially when we've seen promising franchises like Spider-Man and X-Men nearly fall flat on their faces thanks to the third entries in their respective movie franchises. Quote
Big Bizang Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Yes but Spider-man and X-men were totally different animals to the new Batman franchises. They were popcorn summer blockbusters designed to be just that. Batman Begins and Dark Knight have undeniable style, substance and flair that other comic book films just can't match up to (though we'll wait and see with Watchmen). If they want to make a third film they will do and it'll be just as good as the others. Dark Knight Returns isn't set ten years after Dark Knight, DKR features a 50+ year old Bruce after a ten year absence. Quote
