Custom Game Icon + Menu Screen (PSP Guide)

This guide will show you how to edit your Smackdown PSP game in order to add your own custom game icon and menu screen (The menu shown when you select your rom).

This guide was created using Smackdown vs. RAW 2008, however all PSP games tend to be setup in the same way, so you should be able to use this guide to edit any game.

First off, you'll need a copy of the game you want to edit. Where you get this from is up to you, torrents are probably the best bet, however I cant give out any specific links.

Once you have your copy of the game, it will be in one of two formats. .ISO or .CSO. If your file type is .ISO, you can skip the first step, if not follow step 1 to convert your .CSO file to a .ISO file.

Step 1: Download PSP ISO Compressor v1.4, this will allow you to convert your .CSO game file to a .ISO file.

Once you have installed the compressor, open it up to see the screen below.

Select the second bottom option on the left of the program called Uncompress CSO -> ISO and then select your file using the Input browser button. Once you have selected your file, click the Uncompress button on the bottom right of the program to uncompress the .CSO file and change it to a .ISO file. Once you do this a DOS window will appear while the file converts and then dissappear when it's ready.

Step 2: Open your .ISO file using Power ISO and click the + next to the PSP_GAME folder, you will then see the screen below.

From here, all you need to do is select the files ICON0.PNG and PIC1.PNG and either use the extract button to extract them or drag them to your folder, desktop, etc.

Step 3: Once you have extracted the files you can then open them using any image application (I used Photoshop) and edit them to look the way you want before saving them.

Step 4: Now that you've edited the images, it's time to delete the ones inside the .ISO file.

To do this, select the files ICON0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in Power ISO as before and click the delete button at the top. This will delete the files from the .ISO file.

Step 5: Now all that's left is to add your edited files, to do this, click the add button at the top and select your edited files or just drag them into Power ISO. Once you can see the files in Power ISO, simply click the Save button at the top to complete the edit of the .ISO file.

Step 6: Now you can copy the .ISO file to your PSP, simply place it into a folder called ISO within the PSP root directory, then load up your PSP and the game will be available to select with your custom images when you go to Game > Memory Stick on your PSP.

Optionally, you may want to convert your .ISO file back to .CSO using the PSP ISO Compressor you used in step 1, to do this, simply choose the second top option labelled Compress ISO -> CSO, select your .ISO file using the input button and then click the Compress button. Once this is done, you can put it in the same ISO folder on the root of your PSP and follow the same instructions as above to select it.
