phil Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 For the sheer appreciation for the art of music? Quote
RingMaster2001 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 well why record something if ur not gonna sell it? For fun. Not everything in life needs money to be made out of it. Someone might want to see if they can replicate it or change it. Quote
Aero Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 meh, wouldnt pay for professional recording just for that Quote

CanaMatt Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 99% of the religion posts in this topic are fucking retarded. Good job for staying out of it, gents that did. And subrick, honestly now. You say you're NOT trying to be edgy, but you right songs about gore and sex? Wtf do you write that shit for then? Its a subject that actually has deep meaning to you? Please. Even Sangay wanted me to post what an idiot you were, he had a whole rant typed up and wanted me to post it, but changed his mind. Sangay doesn't go off on rants about people. He usually just cries. Your stupid songs made a wimpy indian with an afro angry enough to rant. and trying to be political... christ. Lets here these "mistakes" George Bush has made in your own words. You're 14, and have no idea wtf you're talking about, if Bush wasn't so widely viewed with a critical opinion you would have nothing to say. You wouldn't see it on your little forums, and you wouldn't hear it in your shitty music. You are a sheep. You are more a sheep than the catholic church followers you seem to hate so much. And takersfan, french canadians aren't even actual canadians, thank you very much. Quote

Chillalex Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 meh, wouldnt pay for professional recording just for that you can get some pretty sweet results with a home PC nowadays, and line 6 gear /plug but it involves really knowing what your doing, and a knowledge of sound engineering. Quote
Aero Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 yeah... these guys know what they want but aint sound engineers, they are about half way there now in knowing how to tweak the sounds tho, mike, the lead guitarist really knows how to fiddle about with settings on the guitar/amp/pedal etc and how to shake/hit the guitar or where to stand to get some sweet sounds live, but when it comes to working everything together at the minute, he's alot more content telling someone "yeah, that needs up a bit, can we cross fade that a bit" etc and letting him do it. they won a 3 day studio session and another 3 track studio session so mayb by then they'll know how to do it on their own. that said, would a decent kit for doing it on the PC not be pricey? Chillalex Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Piracy notwithstanding, yes but obviously if you like, live in mexico where the internet laws are lax, it wouldnt be. Software is your biggest blow For a rock type band, you'd need something like a line 6 floorboard/pod rack (This is the large chunk of money you'd have to put down, around Quote
Aero Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 hmmm... well, pirate software is not an issue i'm too concerned with, so its just the pod & mics pc is pretty good tho thinking of upgrading anyways. its my bros band like, so he'd be buying it, and hes in for a wee windfall in 2 months so it may well be considered Quote
Chillalex Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 cool, for drums, you could save mic costs considerably and get very nice, clean and tight drum tracks using Drumkit from Hell Superior. I've heard VERY professional results from that, it sounds amazing (its basically a PC drum kit, that doesnt sound digital at all.) Quote
Aero Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 is it software? if so, couldnt do that to the drummer lol, he's currently working towards his grade 9 in drumming, he's a really hard hitter but probably the best drummer in the area Quote
Chillalex Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 ah yeah its software, its a great thing to do if your drummers hard to find or needs a lot of practice, but if hes a great drummer then its obviously best to go with his talents. Quote
Aero Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 definately but cheers for the pointers all the same, would be good to get a few extra rtacks down. they've been on the go just over a year and have a good 40 songs on the go, most of them are pretty excellent too, others they know aint great but want to work on so getting them recorded could help that. My little sister fancies the drums and she wants to practice but we can't afford drumming lessons. You are more a sheep than the catholic church followers you seem to hate so much. Chillalex Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 hmm itd be a fair bit, think bout 400 dollars ;/ which,if the point was to play the drumx instead of having a recording solution, isnt worth it. for 400 itd best to save forthe deluxe RB2 drums which i think can then be used as a digital drumkit irl too.then RB could act as the drum teacher. i hear it actually does teach real world skills in that aspect. but yeah, itd still be a very large lump sum, but economically id have thoyght it gets the most use. game, drums and teaching aid! alternatively you could look for digital drumkits or whatnot ithink, dkfh is just a recordin solution. excuseCRAP typing im on my wii. WIIMOTE POINT AT LETTERS NIGGER (why have usb ports if you dont support shit like keyboards) Quote
phil Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I tried using the Wiimote for typing after my computer went down, but I couldn't spell for shit and I hated scrolling up and down, which led to my investment of a laptop. Anyways, thanks a lot for the info on the drums. Quote
Spectre Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) ah yeah its software, its a great thing to do if your drummers hard to find or needs a lot of practice, but if hes a great drummer then its obviously best to go with his talents. Wait, Alex or Aero, what is this software called, i read your post but i didnt catch the name. It sounds interesting and fun. And just to make sure im all caught up, this topic went from a band, to alcohol, to religion? Edited August 5, 2008 by Tv's Joe Lauzon Quote
phil Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 And just to make sure im all caught up, this topic went from a band, to alcohol, to religion? Yeah, but now it's thankfully and partially back on topic by talking about music (recording instruments to be precise). Quote
Subrick Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 I'm trying to by a new P.A., does anyone have suggestions? Quote
