Subrick Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 We're still in the process of getting ready to record, but here's the lyrics. The song is called Pierce The Night, and it was written by the guitarist, Rodey Tsapralis. It's split into 2 seperate songs because of the style change between each other. The song itself is about the Josef Fritzl case and the thoughts going through the agressor and the victim's minds. The 1st song is from the viewpoint of Josef Fritzl, and the 2nd one from that of Elisabeth Fritzl. The 1st song is in an incredibly brutal death metal style, resembling Cannibal Corspe or Deicide. To me, I see it as a representation of his anger, sickness and depravity. The 2nd song is in a slower, goth metal style, resembling Lacuna Coil or HIM. It represents her sadness and anger at the whole situation, with her having a mental breakdown before the interlude. After the interlude, she asks if she's dead, only to have the style from the 1st song blast back in her face as her father yells "NOOOOOO!!!" Here's the lyrics: Pierce the Night Part 1 STRUGGLE!!! Don't you struggle You're only gonna make things worse You're only gonna make things worse Don't you look into my eyes I don't see your tears I don't hear your screams That pierce the night Don't you beg for mercy For you shall receive none Am I going to hell for this? Does it really matter at this point? Do I even have a fuckin' choice? Why do I even fuckin' care? STRUGGLE!!! Don't you struggle You're only gonna make things worse You're only gonna make things worse I wash the blood away So ends another day Now I just move on like it never happened... PtN Part 2 Oh my God!!! Here he comes again! No don't you touch me This isn't right at all This can't be all my fault He gets out the tools And then comes the laughter Oh the laughter God please make him stop Where is his moral value? Thrown away like a fuckin' doll Just wait till I get out Oh then you're gonna pay You're all gonna fuckin' pay Better get away from me STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!!! -interlude- Am I dead......? God.....am I dead? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! DON'T YOU STRUGGLE Tell me what you think about it and what could be changed or improved. Quote
bigpoppn Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Shut up, you haven't even heard anything. Sounds nice, when are you guys recording something? Quote
Subrick Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 We're in the process of recruiting a drummer. We're thinking of who to record the drum parts: the guy we're looking for or me. When it gets recorded (along with other songs by us including Bible Blood, a song about the misdoings of the Catholic Church, and a cover of Unholy Confessions by A7X), we'll post it on our MySpace and recruit a 2nd guitarist and bassist. We're called Forsaken Fortress, named after a level in a Zelda game. We play a style of music that is very avant-garde and mixes death metal, metalcore, deathcore, nu metal, grindcore, progressive metal, punk rock, hardcore punk, melodic death metal, black metal, etc. etc. The main 2 styles are nu metal and death metal, a style I thought up before I met Rodey that we call nu death. Just imagine if Slipknot, Cannibal Corspe and Deicide had a baby. A very demented baby. The main 2 mixes of the 2 styles are the speed, breverity, vocal and drum style of death metal with the guitar style, sampling and hip hop influences of nu metal. Whadd'ya think? Quote
phil Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I'm impressed Subrick. I like that you chose a band name from Wind Waker. Good luck with your new band. Quote
Aero Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 erm... ur gonna record and put a cover on myspace? i've heard of ppl getting done for that. my bros band do an awsome led zep medely which they worked themselves, added some extra riffs etc to get them to interchange better, but they were warned well in advance never to actually record it. aside from that, i'd like to wait until i hear the recordings, tho im not a huge death metal fan, most of it is just noise to me. curious sub, what do you actually do in this band? also, guys, i dunno why ur SO shocked. just cos we all think subrick aint... erm... well i'll not finish that lol, but you could all guess where its going. Anyways, just cos we dont think highly of subs abilities, doesnt mean the rest of his band arnt actually pretty good at writing music, coming up with decent band names etc. Quote
takersfan Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I didnt say anything bad poppn but i am now ready to say something other than what the hell. I kept on reading it but i cant figure out its tune so i need to listen to it first. Lyrics look fine though, anyways good luckw/ tht. Quote
bigpoppn Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 It sounded somewhat negative, but whatever. Recently I've been listening more and more to (Melodic) Death Metal (like In Flames, Sonic Syndicate), Black Metal ( Marduk), etc. My favorite still is Metalcore (groups like Caliban). My advice for your band is not to write a song about everything that happens in the world. This sounds great, but please don't become a band that writes thousands of shitty songs about random things. It's great you want to put meaning in the songs, but don't try too hard. Quote
Subrick Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 @Aero I'm the vocalist. @Everyone Alot of the lyrics I write are about religion. We're not Christcore, mainly because the lyrics chastise the Catholic Church while making it clear that we're not Satanic or athiest. Some other topics I write about are race and politics. The main influences in the band are Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Slipknot, Motograder, Korn, Linkin Park (when they were good), Suicide Silence, The Breathing Process, KSE, Dillinger Escape Plan, Strapping Young Lad, and Iron Maiden. The way we're gonna recruit the bassist and rythym guitarist is after posting the songs we'll have a little contest for people who can play bass and guitar. The bassist and guitarist who can play Pierce The Night the best will be contacted and offered a place in the band. Quote
Aero Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 so by "band" its currently just u and a guitarist? Quote
Subrick Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Yes. But on the recording Rodey's doing the bass as well as the guitar. Here's the 2 guys that we're thinking of for drummer. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=74786477 This guy's name is AJ, he's black, and he's able to do 130 bpm. He's the one we know most about. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...riendid=6191177 This guy we don't know that much about. His name's Siro, he's been in many bands, he can do Fear Factory speed, and that's all we know. Quote
Thom Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 he's black, and he's able to do 130 bpm. He's the one we know most about. Evidently! He's black and he's able to to do 130bpm?! Quote
MasterOfTheSwanton Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 erm... ur gonna record and put a cover on myspace? i've heard of ppl getting done for that. my bros band do an awsome led zep medely which they worked themselves, added some extra riffs etc to get them to interchange better, but they were warned well in advance never to actually record it. I was under the impression that anything you actually record yourself is legal, providing your stating it is a cover and not that you wrote it yourself. It was awhile ago when I heard it, Chris Moyles was interviewing someone and it was brought up in the interview. Quote
The Don Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 We're giving Subrick too much attention... this topic is now about booze. Personally I enjoy a few shots of Jagermeister and Redbull but mostly drink Southern Comfort and orange juice. Quote
Aero Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 erm.. thats not true paul, their guitarist is doing a degree in music including music law, copyright law etc and as such came up with a few cool ways of copyrighting for free etc, but he was able to give case examples where bands thought they would just record covers, most giving credit, still getting taken to court etc. you still need permission and agree royalty fees etc. Quote
Thom Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Whiskey with Orange Juice. Are you insane? How does that taste anywhere near good? Quote
The Don Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 It kinda tastes like an Orange Julius, give it a try sometime. Quote
Big Bizang Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Southern Comfort is barely Whisky in all fairness. Tia Maria and orange juice tastes exactly like orange Smarties. Nice but totally gay. Quote
Thom Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 How on earth do you get away with ordering that up north? Quote
Aero Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 he probably buys a pint of vodka, straight with it and pretends he's rtyin to pull :S then takes a gulp out of the vodka as he's leavin the bar to look hard. ..thats what i'd do Quote
