Fozy Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 After about 10 years of hoping and crushed dreams, I have seen the 3 most influential bands in my life. Saturday night let me check off Rage Against The Machine and it was fucking incredible. I can't even explain to any of you how fucking awesome it was. Finally, Linkin Park, Muse and Rage Against the Machine have been seen, lol. I guess next up is the Killers - I dunno why, but in the past year, I have seriously wanted to see them. So, who are the bands you all want to see/what is the biggest/best band you have ever seen? Quote
Eat A Vegan Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Last July I seen aerosmith in prince edward island, it was an amazing and super long show. The opening bands started at 12 in the afternoon and went on until midnight or so, other bands that played were 5440 and cheap trick. Aerosmith was the best act that night but Cheap trick were really fun to watch. I also seen ozzy play in January, it was a pretty good show except when he forgot the fords to Never Gonna Stop. As for future concerts, I'd like to see the smashing pumpkins play. Quote
bigpoppn Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Would like to see Caliban(seeing they're my favorite band), Aerosmith, Rammstein (because of their great live performances), I'm going to see Metallica this August, and there are probably a few others I can't think of now. Quote
Subrick Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Slipknot's on top of my list. The energy that those guys bring to a stage is unmatched. Quote
Fozy Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 The Prodigy is by the far most energy I've ever seen on stage, seriously. Fucking hell it was epic. Rage Against The Machine seriously just blew the fucking festival open. Everyone went mental, especially when Bullet in the Head came on, Killing in the name of was crazy too, especially being the last song they done. Pendulum also took T by storm, once again making everyone dance like mad men, was great to see them again, but fuck me. I was absolutely cunted after it, i just collapsed with a fag and orange juice. lol Quote
jitz Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I've seen everyone I've ever wanted to see, so yeah I've been pretty lucky seems as these bands travelled a long way to play. I suppose the only one I could pick would be Slipknot, whom I have already seen, but I would like to see them at their own show rather than a music festival. Chances are it will happen too, with the new album around the corner. Quote
Smacktalks Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I seen the two of the three bands I most wanted to see over the last two years in The Foo Fighters and Muse, both were awesome. Muse i've always liked, but I sort of went off the Foo's, yet even so watching them live was great. Especially when they did the older stuff like Monkey Wrench, All My Life, Learn to Fly, etc. In terms of bands I really want to see, I really want to see Blink 182 live but thats not gonna happen imo. I just missed out on seeing them live in Manchester the year before they split, my ex thought i'd prefer a portable dvd player! Still I got to see Mark play with Plus 44 last year when they played Newcastle, it was just a shame Travis was at home with a broken wrist. Quote
Spectre Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I saw Megadeth in the spring and im going to see Iron Maiden and Judas Priest this summer. Quote
Subrick Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Oh yeah, I forgot Maiden. Greatest band evar! Full list: Slipknot Stone Sour Iron Maiden Disturbed Killswitch Engage Tenacious D Paramore As I Lay Dying Deicide Converge (the fathers of metalcore) Possessed SOAD A reunion of the remaining members of Death (the fathers of death metal) Twisted Sister Guns N Roses Quote
bigpoppn Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 You really like fathers, don't you? And good list, although the only reason you want to see Paramore is because Hayley is hot. Quote
Aero Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 erm, only band i ever wanted to see was aerosmith, would love to see more older bands tho, and i've decided if AC/DC ever tour again i'll be there. goin to see whitesnake/def leppard in december i think, missed their last show, not a big fan, but meh. have also seen bon jovi (suprisingly good) chris cornel (nearly stole the show over aerosmith ... nearly), muse, NIN, counting crows, black crowes, the darkness, ash, the answer, nickelback..erm.... oh, status quo, theres bound to be 1 or 2 more hahaha maiden, metallica, linkin park (only cos they were supporting metallica) judas priest.... cant believe i forgot to type those, anyways, that must be it for now lol. have thought of bands i want to see now tho - kings of leon foo fighters aerosmith again chris cornel again tenacious d (am goin to see them supporting metallica.... due to st. anger, im actuall ymore excited about the d than metallica) ac/dc as said before think that'll do me for now. Trips Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I have seen Ian Brown, James and Slipknot. Fuck all others. Ian Brown was the best. Quote
Subrick Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 You really like fathers, don't you? And good list, although the only reason you want to see Paramore is because Hayley is hot. Well, that and because their actually decent. They're the only decent emo band ever. Speaking of emo, My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy are absolutly horrible. Most emo bands are on the bottom of the musical ladder, along with most pop and all rap. Especially rap. To me, it's not music if it's made on a machine. Quote
The Don Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Aerosmith has been at the top of my must see list for years and still is. Other than that my list is fairly short, Kid Rock, Jay-Z, Linkin Park, Theory of a Deadman and Ja Rule. I've been so close to seeing Kid Rock twice, when he came for Live Trucker I had two tickets and my buddy/ride bailed a few hours before the show and I couldn't find anyone else, then he came a few months ago and I was caller 92 of 93. Thom Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Speaking of emo, My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy are absolutly horrible. Most emo bands are on the bottom of the musical ladder, along with most pop and all rap. Especially rap. To me, it's not music if it's made on a machine. Oh so it just has to be heavier than what your friends listen to, right? Idiot. Look into Squarepusher and then claim that electronic music "isn't music". And Venetian Snares while you're at it. Anybody who actually knows shit (Alex) will back me up, it's definitely music. You just can't comprehend it. Another thing you're wrong about is My Chem being "horrible". They're absolutely incredible live. I went to see Death Cab earlier this evening, it wasn't as seminal as I'd hoped, but I Will Follow You Into the Dark was gorgeous, and during Transatlanticism the drumming was incredible and I had a genuine goosebumps moment. Kanye West puts on an amazing show, I was most disappointed by Jay Z, because he had his hype man Memph Bleak on stage with him all the time slurring over every song. I like seeing bands which aren't so huge mostly, Alexisonfire and a band called Late of the Pier rank among my favourite gigs, mostly because the venue was so intimate. Going to see Metallica and Rage at Reading in August which I'm looking forward to an unbelievable amount. Apart from them I can't think of anyone else I "have to" see. Simian Mobile Disco too, just because the way they manipulate their equipment to produce sounds is mind-blowing. And if I ever get the chance, I would absolutely kill to see Girl Talk, because of the atmosphere at his live shows. Check the video, even if you don't like the music you won't be able to dispute the fact that it looks like the party of the century. phil Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 P.O.D., Pearl Jam, Kanye West, Public Enemy, Ice Cube and Nickelback would be my choices to see live. Unfortunately, Haji's Kitchen and The Fugees are inactive and a music festival appearance for them would be impossible, so I guess I have no choice but to mark them off. Quote
Spectre Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Don, its no crime to go to a concert by yourself, even though youll look like a fool all by yourself. Quote
Thom Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Just remembered, saw Jurassic 5 before they split up and before even Cut Chemist left them, and then I saw Cut Chemist on his own live. Both incredible. Another few to add to my list though; Beastie Boys, Kid Rock (Serious) and DJ Shadow (Before "The Outsider" came out) Quote
jitz Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Also supoorting Thom's arguement that electronic music can be music is Pendulum. I hate electronic music too, but what these guys do is talented. The songs are so well structured and mixed, you can actually hear that they are educated about a lot of different genres of music. They also use more sections than pretty much any techno group going, so they often song like an actual rock band. Quote
Aero Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 i've seen jurassic 5 too thom, they played tennents vital with ash, the darkness, the answer, some wee screachy teen band who wernt too bad and <shudders> goldie lookin chain god they were woeful, so so woeful. jurassic 5 aint reall ymy style but they did put on a great show Quote
