And the only thing I got from that addy was a pointer that told me where the superstar data was at. The first CAW codes I hacked was accomplished by forcing 00 at 10000 ( in hex ) addys in hex all at the same time using the 32-bit multi-write command for the AR2. I started at 00410000 ( which was where most of the data was at in SYM ) and worked my way up until 004B0000 when the game actually started up and my CAWS disappeared. From there it took about 1 1/2 hours of blocking out 50% of 004B0000, then 25%, then 12.5 % etc. until I was able to isolate 1 single addy of those 10000 addys I originally blocked out that controlled something specific in the CAW data. When I was ready to look for superstar data, I finally used the slus. I marked the very first addy of the CAW data and found a referrer under a label that also had a referrer to the first addy of the Superstar data. The only reason I was able to use this method was because I knew that what I was looking for was part of a very large section of data only. Most of the time if you block out 10000 addys, the game won't even boot. So you see, my work in HCTP is 99% due to stabbing in the dark as opposed to programming knowledge, which is what you need to really hack using the slus. Until someone gives me a RAM editor to play with, my usefulness in hacking will be limited to lucky guesses and determination. In other words, I ain't all that.
