Smacktalks Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Check out the detail in the demolishion of these models, looks awesome. http://www.cgchannel.com/news/viewfeature.jsp?newsid=7397 Quote
Chillalex Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 pretty cool. Shame its not real time (next-next gen please??) but impressive none the less. Crysis has similar things going on but on a much smaller scale. Still, it was still based on procedural destruction. Not sure how UE3 handles this type of stuff in gears 2 though. Man itll be a great day when this tech, realtime radiosity and displacement are in games. If thats all possible in the next gen then damn, thatll be some cinema shit going on Quote
Elmnt254 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 that was amazing. there was one scene, I think it was the rocks or whatever flying throuh the building...they looked like Legos. it was really cool though Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 It'd be great to see games in the future using this technology, imaging firing a rocket at a building in GTA and having it demolish befoe you Quote
Spectre Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Yeh ST, then RockStar once again getting sued, but this time for promoting terrorism. It would happen. I liked the one with the comet going through the building. All of it was Impressive. Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 27, 2008 Author Posted May 27, 2008 lol, Can you imagine the news stories about it, it'd only help promote it even more and cause R* to make yet another record selling game. Quote
Slim Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) I can imagine playing Battlefield Bad Company with that level of destruction! You think it will ever be in games though? It probably could'nt be in a game like GTA. Because then you could destroy the whole city and not be able to do that story mode. If it were put into game, game would have to become ultra relistic.... so you could'nt just blow everything to hell in a few minutes. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has this kind of destruction in it. DMM :bow Edited June 11, 2008 by Slim Quote
Smacktalks Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 I think were starting to see it now, although not at great levels. If it were to be used in GTA it would probably reset once you move away from the area, in the same way the destroyed cars do. The wood breaking looked really good, just goes to show the amount of detail that goes into games these days. SD!2 was sooo the first bit of wood. Quote
Chillalex Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 yeah no doubt this will eventually be incorporated in to games not so much realistic games like GTA I shouldnt think, but you can already see some in The Force Unleashed/Gears 2, and Crysis. It really just depends on context, but feasibly, it could be done pretty soon. Quote
