undertaker666 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 THQ issued the following press release today: Prepare to Relive, Rewrite or Redefine History with WWE® Legends of WrestleMania® AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - (Business Wire) THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAKK) today announced that WWE Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Here's a brief overview from IGN: It's called WWE Legends of WrestleMania, it'll star former Superstars, and it's in addition to the WWE SmackDown vs. RAW franchise. Details are still a bit hazy at this point in time, but a THQ press release says the game will arrive in March 2009 to coincide with WrestleMania 25, in Houston, Texas. I'm in two minds about this as I would prefer them to work on one game and make that the best they possibly can, rather than put a half assed attempt in on two. Also, I dont see this being anything other than SvR2009, with a different roster and storymode. It's a good thing that there only developing it for the 360/PS3 as it'll give them more time and people to focus on 2 versions as opposed to 5-6. All of that said, i'm looking forward to playing as older superstars like Bret Hart, Mankind, Rock, Flair... wait, aint this just gonna be a collection of the Legends from SvR games? Also if there gonna be putting these Legends into their own game, what does that mean for the Legends on SvR2009? Surely there gonna cut these right down or feature non at all? If they put the biggest ones on SvR, who's gonna want to pay for a seperate Legends game? All in all, unless theres big differences, like a change in the game engine, different modes, etc. then I wont be buying this game. Instead i'll just make do with creating CAWs for the Legends. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a Legend roster for SvR2009 with old arenas and an old skool styled steel cage. - Also, why Legends of WM? Wouldn't that rule out the ability to include any top ECW or WCW superstars from the past? Quote
Aero Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 aaaaahhhhhh its obvious what they are doing here. they are jumping on the Guitar hero band wagon. releasing a rehashed game to get money at a time of year where there are less big games coming out... cos its like summer and ppl (not don) go outside from time to time and have less time for games. its also a great way to capital further on the whole WrestleMania Hype. mayb the year after we will get a WcW game or something... which will basicly be SvR2010 only WcW (obviously) Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I think there's more chance of them releasing an ECW game, featuring the new ECW roster and a host of ECW legends. For me that game would be alot better concept, you could add all kinds of new match types that we haven't seen in WWE before, ala the ECW Scaffold Matches. Quote
Aero Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 there is the flaw tho, its clearly a filler game, said ECW game u described would be like a new/different game... that wont happen. Quote
jitz Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Yeah this one isn't clear cut, it really can go either way. Knowing THQ, it will just be SDvR 09 with a different roster, a few different moves, and a different story line. The only thing with a glimmer of hope about this title, is that maybe because of the 09 release date, the different development team handling the game is using a different engine, or making major changes. Changes would make sense, if they going old school with it, a slower engine with more rest moves would make sense. It's THQ though, money versus quality, they take money everytime. Take from this though PS2 owners who haven't put down cash on the newer consoles, this looks to spell the end of THQ's support of the format after SDvR09. Frankly though, I don't know why 09 is on PS2...oh that's right, money over quality. Quote
bigpoppn Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 SvR08 on the PS2 should be the last SvR game any PS2 owner buys. It's the same as 07, and 09 will probably be the exact same shit, with one or two minor adjustments. It should only be released on 360 & PS3 imo. Quote
