manDude Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 So lately I have been watching superfriends and other old cartoon on boomerang. When I told my friend at school about superfriends, he suggested that I try reading comic books. When I asked him what I should read he didn't know, he just suggested comic books because batman and superman are in superfriends. So, what I am geting at is, does anyone have any suggestions as to comic I should read? I enjoy classic superhero comic. Also, does anyone know of a website that has comics in like a .pdf format? phil Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) Booster Gold FTW is all I have to say when it comes to reading comics. Edited April 29, 2008 by phil Quote
jitz Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Have you considered reading one of the many Batman or Superman comics? Or how about Justice League of America featuring both Batman and Superman. Maybe consider Superman/Batman, featuring surprisingly, Superman and Batman. Yep DC rapes these two characters as much as Marvel rapes Wolverine and the current movie property at the time. Quote
jitz Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Are you suggesting someone reads the literary mess that is The Clone Saga? Quote
manDude Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 (edited) The only problem is that I have no money right now. 900th post. yeah. Edited April 30, 2008 by man_Dude Quote
jitz Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 No money? Don't get into comic books, they are the richest hobby you could think of. The hobby only grows too, so yeah, just don't start. Quote
Big Bizang Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Download them. They can be found in some sites. 4Chan posts them in rapidshare every wednesday but that would involve getting involved with 4Chan and that's never recommendable. Don't bother with a lot of 'old school' spider-man whatever that may ential Subrick. A good deal is rubbish and of course none of it means anything anymore since he got the shit retconned out of him. Read J Michael Straczynski's run on Amazing Spider-Man. Apart from the Sins Past arc it's brilliant. Really does something new with the character, works incredibly well. All the more insulting when Joe Q retconned it all really... That and the classics: Batman: Long Halloween and Dark Victory (In that order) Dark Knight Returns Batman: The Killing Joke Superman: A Man for all Seasons (though I'm no fan of Superman) Try some Ultimate Spider-man that's good up until a point. And of course the bible we should all be presented with at birth: Watchmen. Read that after you've been into comics for a bit though you will not regret it. It is the finest piece of literature I've ever read. Quote
jitz Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Fine, I wasn't going to encourage illegal downloading of a struggling medium. DCP do weekly packs of that weeks releases, the pirate bay should have them. Just unselect the ones you don't want in your torrent program, saves you downloading shit you don't want. Quote
Subrick Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I know the perfect graphic novel: The Lost Girls. Look it up. Quote
manDude Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 On a side note, I went to some comic book store that I didn't know about on saturday, and got some comic from along time ago that only costed $.25. and I got Nate Quarry's Autograph. Quote
