Smacktalks Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has been using several former WWE superstars to help develop their upcoming "SmackDown vs. RAW 2009" video game. Mighty Mike (Spirit Squad member Mikey), Nick Nemeth (Spirit Squad member Nicky), Billy Kidman and Al Snow have been doing motion captures for the game. The four former WWE superstars wrestlers have been performing the moves, ring entrances, trademark mannerisms and taunts for all the WWE superstars. The ten-hour work days have left the guys pretty banged up. Don't get me wrong in criticising people like Al Snow, Billy Kidman, etc. but this just goes to show that there is no where near the amount of effort put in to creating this game as TNA are putting in to thier debut game. I mean TNA allow there best stars, like AJ Styles, Samoea Joe, etc. to do all the motion capture and yet the WWE give THQ Mikey & Nicky from the Spirit Squad, Al Snow and Billy Kidman. When the game is released and you start complaining about the way the moves look, you now know who to thank. Quote
ALL STAR Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 It dosnt make much sense. Atleast midway are going all out, THQ are just lazy they could get something done with the actually superstars but no. Even Midway are getting booker to put his moves into the game and this late stage. No matter how good they are they arnt going to do a taker chokeslam like taker it always looks off. As svr could be awesome but they just arnt trying its just it will do. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Do you guys realize the schedule of the WWE superstars compared to the TNA wrestlers? It's not even a comparison how much the WWE superstars have to do every single day. That's why a lot of them can't work the ten hour days to do taunts, moves, etc. Give THQ a break. TNA have nowhere near the same schedule as WWE. That's why they're able to use their superstars for their debut game. Quote
crunk Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 That's true HB, but there's also another reason. Think of it from a business perspective. TNA's game is its debut in what should be a series of games. They've only got this one game to win over a loyal fanbase and to impress critics, so of course TNA will invest time, money and their superstars into it. WWE on the other hand have the consumers on a leash. They could slash are releasing yet another average game, with average updates and averages effort put into it. Why? Because they have such a strong following and loyal fanbase that people will keep buying it. Why invest unneccessary time, money and superstars for minimal extra gain? That would just be bad business. Quote
jitz Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Yet another reason why Samoa Joe and AJ Styles assisted so much witht he making of the TNA game is the simple reason of - they love video games. They're gamers like us and want the game to be the best it can be, so they put there hands up to help. Quote
Smacktalks Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 I understand the point that they've got a product out there that people will buy regardless of the new features, but surely of all the years to go the extra mile and put out a decent product it should be this year, now that they have some competition. I mean if you have sites like IGN reviewing it less than the TNA game, it's going to affect sales even if you do have gamers that will buy it regardless. Quote
stunner15 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 (edited) I agree with Heart Breaker, WWE's scheduale is very busy compared to TNA. They don't have the time to have every single superstar on the roster to go in and do all the motion captures for hours and hours a day when they need to travel all across the country to put on shows. Plus the roster for the TNA game has only 25 playable superstars, while Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 has 50 or more playable superstars. Edited April 21, 2008 by stunner15 Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I wonder if they'll include any moves for Benoit. Probably, considering this obviously real, not photoshopped image. Quote
CS Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 CAF looks fucking awesome, better be on Wii version. Quote
