LG enV phone mini-review.

So after going from shitty prepaid phone (T-Mobile to go) to a shittier prepaid phone (Virgin Mobile) for the better part of a year I decided it was time to get an actual phone plan. Since T-Mobile decided to fuck me over when my prepaid phone wasn't active for awhile (I wasn't going to buy a new sim card and activation code) I went to Verizon Wireless since I had them before without any real complaints. I opted for the LG enV as my phone because I had the predecessor awhile ago.

After a day of dicking around with it I'm pretty happy with it The sound is good, even better when it's opened up with the stereo speakers. The QWERTY keyboard is the right size for my famously fat fingers and it feels good in my pocket and feels like it can take some abuse which is a good thing because when I goto my friend's place one of his kids always seems to find a way to sit on my phone. Another positive is that it has no problems charging. My T-Mobile phone had to be nigger-rigged to charge and if you bumped it while it was charging it'd turn off so I'd have to open it and remove the batter and put it back in they play the fun charging game again. I also get reception here in the new house which is great because with my Virgin Mobile phone I had to go stand by the window to use it and even then it was iffy, not to mention the piece of shit would shut off after awhile in my pocket and naturally that's when everyone would call.

I do have a few nitpicks on it however. The front number buttons are lines and not buttons, which suck with my famously fat fingers. Also with the QWERTY keyboard the speaker phone is right by the clear/backspace button which leads to me putting it on speaker when I just wnat to delete a letter. Also when it's opened up you can't put it on a flat surface and use it like a lap top because the 2 mega pixel camera sticks out from the phone so when you push a button on the left side it rocks, gets to be a pain after awhile. Another problem I've found is that playing music and videos on it is kind of a pain in the ass because the menu navigation takes a little getting used to. Perhaps my biggest nitpick is the fact that the two images I downloaded (even paid for) to use as wallpapers for each screen don't fill the whole screen and worst of all I can't make the rest of the background black to match the image, I know that's reaching but it kinda bugs me.

All that being said I'm loving my new phone. Sound is good/great depending on how you play it, the videos you can download (so far I've only gotten two music videos) looks pretty damn good considering that they're streaming. MSN/AIM/YIM is one thing I was worried about but it seems to be pretty quick on sending and receiving messages and the web browser (the little I used it last night) is pretty quick, it loaded up MySpace pretty damn fast for a cell phone. Really the only thing I haven't tested out yet is the camera, but thats secondary because I hardly take pictures. In short if you have Verizon Wireless or are looking for a good phone with a QWERTY Keyboard I highy suggest the LG enV, it lives up to it's processor and in ways it surpasses it. 8/10

Well. If you liked the EnV, the Voyager is supposed to be even better. Apparently it tis the iPhone killer.

A problem I'm running in to is I want to get the intro to Sweet Child O Mine as my ringtone but when I try it says it's having problems... and I can't find it as a ringback tone, bastards.

Use Nero Soundtrax for all your ringtone needs. Load the song up enter the wave editor (i think it's called), and select the part of the song you want, srop, save as MP3. Done, will play on any phone that supports MP3....all them these days.

my version of nero wave editor will only ley me save in wav, which is gay cos file sizes are huge.

You could try searching for the mp3pro plug in. Or I'd suggest grabbing a better copy that says "with plug ins".

you've always got fairly durable phones then, alot of the slimline 1s etc u shouldnt sit on. have seen a pretty skinny girl sit on an E370 (which isnt even that slimline) and break it.
