The site reports that Marvel is moving ahead with a new standalone movie based around the dastardly alien symbiote, and has recently met with several "A-list writers" to pen a script. There has been no official word from Marvel yet, although the studio are in a position to develop new projects after they signed an interim deal with the WGA last week allowing scribes to write for them until the strike resolves. Apparently the rights to the character have recently moved back to Marvel from New Line, although it is unclear what control - if any - Sony have over Venom, since his character appears in Spider-Man 3, which they own. If a Venom spin-off does go ahead, would you want Topher Grace to reprise his role, and what evil shenanigans would like to see him get up to? Would be cool to see Venom get his own film but not sure what the outcome would be in the end. But there is a ton of possibilities for this and carnage could be in include to which would be sweet.
