Subrick Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 He tapped. That quickly. All that hype for nothing. Your thoughts? Quote
The Don Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 He got caught, pain and simple. He came out like a beast and I think he got a little too excited and ended up hitting Mir in the back of the head so they had to stand it back up. Then I think he got a little too cocky and ended up leaving his foot between Mir's legs. As soon as he realized what he did he tried to yank it out, but Mir already had it locked in, so really he had no choice but to tap at that point in time. Atleast Brock showed some class during his postfight interview. Quote
Heart Breaker Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 All that hype for nothing? He was facing a former UFC champion. Did you expect Brock to demolish him? The fact is, Brock is still very new to this game. If he truely dedicates himself to this sport, like I think he will, he will be an amazing force for anyone to handle. He was dominating Mir for most of that fight. There's no shame in getting caught by one of the best submission artists in the game. Give Brock time. He's only been training MMA for a couple of years. He's still very new to this sport. Brock will be back, and something tells me this loss will make him even better than ever. Quote
Niles Jansen The Third Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) Yeah I think your confused Subrick, between WWE and UFC. Unlike WWE, submitting isn't the worst way in the world to put your opponent over and lower yourself into 'midcard'. If you get properly locked into a submission, you either get out of it, tap out before you break a bone, or tap out after you break a bone. There's no rope breaks, or reversing the submission into a pin. IMO, submitting is alot less of a defeat then being knocked out. Besides the point, Brock showed some awesome ground and pound, and a bit of his wreslting, and some striking aswell. He didn't get to show any jiu jitsu, or submission, but I doubt he lacks much in that category considering all the training he has put into it. He has raw power, and he is a very dedicated worker. Perfect mix, I'd say. I enjoyed watching him, and was very impressed with the fact he did as well as he did, this being his first fight in UFC, and second MMA in his career. CS Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You all beat me to it, there's nothing left to insult subrick with. I guess all I can say is, I fucking hate hammer fists. They fucking suck and there is no use for them. As for the match, it went exactly the way I thought it would. Had everything I guessed it would have, a Lesnar takedown, Brock going nuts and Mir submitting him only everything happened a lot sooner than I thought it would. Brock`ll be back, and better than ever. Quote
