Well, I just saw Cloverfield. And I must say. I like it alot. It seemed more original than most of the movies out there today.

And for those who believe that the 1st person camera is a bad idea is wrong. If it weren't for that I think the movie would have been horrible. It just added so much to it, it felt more realistic. The "film" itself was recorded over home movies so in between parts where you were waiting for something to happen you would see snippets of the main characters just talking. Then it goes back to the scene where it's completely different just leaving you going DAMN IT.

I thought it was good. And the ending was annoying...but it does a great job at leaving you.

The effects itself were A+ and the monster detail looked like it took ages to create.

I wish they could make a sequel, but they just cant, what would it be about?, i mean it could be done, but i doubt it be done from the video camera view

After reading wikipedia i just learned this:

The movie then cuts to a scene from Rob and Beth enjoying their Coney Island date a month before. The lovers turn the camera towards the fairgrounds and the pier, and an object can be seen crashing into the sea on the right-hand horizon.

Didnt even notice it.

Also

After the ending credits have completely run through, garbled radio static can be heard with the phrase "It's still alive" played in reverse

The internet sites, also attempt to explain stuff, like the whole deal with the connection to Slusho(japenese soft drink), this is Rob's New job and why hes going to japan, but after reading the connections and stuff, i thought of something, when the monster first attacks and the group decides to go get beth, when there running throught the alley a oriental man stops Hud and starts talking in japanese or chinese, i wondered what he said and if it has to do with the story. Lastly a manga is being released in japan, its supposed to reveal the origin of the monster.

On an off note i thought the Star trek trailer that played before the movie was awesome.

Saw the movie a week back. Yeah, I hate monster movies. Never have liked one, never have been scared by one, etc.

But this movie really is incredible. The monster does not disappoint. The entire movie doesn't disappoint. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. Go see this movie. Now!

I just saw it yesterday, and it's one of my favorite movies ever right now. My dad said that the talking parts were boring, though. Something that surprises me is that this movie wasn't released in IMAX. They released Spider Man 3 in IMAX, so why not Cloverfield? I demand an answer, dammit!

I've managed to last the first week of the American release without seeing any spoilers, 4 days left...

Does anyone have a picture of the monster? I've searched Google, but I can't find one. I get motion sick very easily, so I'm going to wait for the movie to come out on DVD before I see it.

i was GREATLY disappointed by this film!!!

i'm not gonna say it was shit, but it wasnt that good. if it wasnt for...erm HUD? on the camera being constantly funny, it would have been utter shit tho. i'm not a big fan of this camcorder style which is being used mre and more but the camera guy did have me in sticthes so all is forgiven on that front, but the story was very lacking imo. the monster was pretty cool tho.

see, i'd be more than willing to watch that, tho i'd love a proper monster movie story this time.
